Goodbye Sales August & September

Sales for August & September thus far have been pretty horrible. Our biggest sale day is Sunday's and this past Sunday we only got ONE sale. Anyone else dealing with this as well? Maybe and hopefully it is just the time of the year? Hoping that customers are not no longer interested in my product!

Any advice is appreciated!

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August is always kind of slow for my sales. I sell on a couple of sites as well as a local shop in my city. All three were dismal in August. But the good news is that sales are gradually increasing.

Sales have not been good for me neither. I actually I think I am selling the wrong items. Not sure how long I will last.

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August was slow for me as well - at least it was on par with last year's August. I try to stay positive and use that time to beef up my inventory for Christmas. I was worried about September but my targeted views are up and had two sales back to back last weekend so I am looking for an upswing in September when people get back to work and school and start planning for fall. Keep promoting and keep creating!

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August has been awful, but I was on holiday.. I did not put the shop on vacation, quite convinced that I could spare one hour each day for promoting... No way! The internet connection was pitiable... And we had such hectic schedules!
I had one small sale a few days ago.. But again... I am having very busy days outside Etsy.. Therefore no time for promoting nor preparing new items... So I can convince myself that it's my fault ;)

I think we all share your pain from this summer slump. Let's not blame our products because we all have something unique to offer. Your products are perfect for those students just getting back on campus and for the shopper looking for that special personalized gift. We'll bounce back! :)

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August was pretty poor especially by comparison to July which was excellent. September is already doing better than August. I hope this trend continues!

Hi Team, I agree sales have been aweful. It's too quiet out there. I know the holidays are coming and I sure hope it picks up around here. Perhaps Etsy has lost it's sparkle and people are feed up with the junk that comes up when they try to search for handmade. I know it annoys me when I'm a buyer here. -K

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

My views and favorites are back up to where they should be this month (September,) but my sales are down even more so than August. I'm beginning to wonder, like Kristine Z., are people starting to look elsewhere for handmade? How do we adapt?

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

Feel like my shop has fallen off the face of the earth. August compared to the rest of the year was off by quite a bit. September thus far has been just ok. Not sure what is going on. Still promoting so baffled as to what to do next.

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August was about average for me, with a couple large dollar sales boosting the month. Labor Day was slow, but sales have now picked up. I'm just "keep on keeping on" and getting ready for the holidays by listing antique Christmas items!

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

I'm interested in the discussions on slow sales. I just started this year and have nothing to go by but am wondering if it's anything to do with the uncertainty people feel about their financial positions all over the world. It may look like a problem with the site but I have found Ebay to be slow in Australia here as well. Etsy definitely keeps improving their product to keep up with the changing times (new shipping tools, mobile apps etc) but maybe times are changing very fast. One thing is for sure, good quality, good service and good value will always be in style!

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

August ended pretty darn well for me considering I started a new full time job and didnt purchase too much inventory to sell.

September though, has been rather slow.
I plan on adding more items for the end of the month, so Im hoping sales pick up.

Im also splitting my attention to my 2nd shop, one in which sells scarves. So Im stretched thin these days.

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

This whole year's been a write-off! Ever since Etsy started the testing in February my sales have been from a quarter to half of what they were at that exact same period last year.

IDK who's been benefiting from these tests and changes, but I can surely tell you it isn't me. :(

Re: Goodbye Sales August & September

September is much better.
I am still new at analyzing my sales, really trying
to learn when I sell, doesn't seem to be any
rhyme nor reason?! But will keep at it,
Hang in there.
