Good luck using Pinterest?

Has anybody had success using pinterest as a marketing tool? I have out some items on there, but I can't seem to get anybody to repin(it may be that ppinterest just isn't the right place for the nature of my items, not sure).

Can anybody share their success tips for using Pinterest? maybe I'm doing it wrong. Thanks
Sandy

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

Etsy has a bunch of Pinterest teams with "pinning circles." If you join one, you can post one item of your own. If you pin a bunch of other people's items, then they will pin yours in return.

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

Even though people don't repin my items all the time, I have noticed traffic from pinterest after I've pinned. Have you checked your stats?

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

As with most social media platforms, the more active you are, the more likely people are to notice you. Are you pinning things other than the items from your shop? People tend to be turned off by seeing too much self-promotion. Also, the default way to view new pins is from people you follow, so if you don't have many followers it's less likely that people will see your pins. I've found that the best way to get followers who might be interested in your products is to follow people who seem to have similar taste to you, because some people will follow you back if they like your pins. The bonus to that of course is that you also get to look at other cool pins from people who like similar things. Also, look at other pins and repin or like ones that you like.

Social media success = 80 percent content about "them" (your target audience); 20 percent content about your business.

What's your percentage?

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

I try to pin every other day....some of my own and other Etsy products. I like to go through my favorites about once a week and pin items. I do get traffic from Pinterest daily...at least 10 views. As far as re-pinning...it seems most of my family and friends re-pin my items...but hey, it is still exposure :) I like Pinterest because it is easy to pin items and not too time consuming. PLUS it is highly addicting!!!

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

I have great luck using pinterest although I get a lot of things pinned primarily from my blog which links back to my shop. I've really been able to grow my pinterest followers through blogging and see a lot of traffic to my main shop from pinterest as a result.

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

I have pinned a few of my items but so far that has only led to 2 or 3 views. I have had a lot more success using wanelo.com. It seems like as soon as I post an item there it starts bringing in views. I also know that at least one of these led to a sale.

I have heard that people like wanelo but I can never get it their site to load properly for me and adding items - it just spins and spins.

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

Pinterest is fairly new to me, but I agree with the others who said the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it! Just be sure to pin things other than just your shop's items, so that people can see your other interests and personality! I'm on Wanelo, too, and try to use both accounts a few times each week (adding my items, liking others' pins, etc.)

Best of luck with Pinterest!

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

Hi all,
Thanks for the tips here.
Can I just ask, can people see your pins on a "global" noticeboard even if they don't follow you?
Thanks,
Mel

Re: Good luck using Pinterest?

I just signed up with copious and just heard about wanelo a few days ago. They seem very similar to me but I need to work on promoting my store.
