Get Your Work Published!

I'm celebrating today - I got a piece of my jewellery selected and published in Lark Books '500 Felt Objects'.

For me, I felt (no pun intended) it was important to go to the extra effort to get my work published to give my work credibility. Obviously, I believe in what I'm doing but I think it really helps if an independent body selects your work - it gives your buyers confidence in your abilities as an artist.

Thanks Moxie...(love the 'eat is or leave' towel, that's what I tell my little boys, except I normally say 'eat it or go to bed'....it normally works, well at dinner time anyway)

I've also heard that http://craftgawker.com/ is a good place to get projects / tutorials published. Don't know if anyone has experience of this site.

I've gotten quite a few things published in the past year. It's always good to check out what Lark is looking for. If there are magazines that might publish an article or photo of one of your pieces, don't be afraid to give it a try. I do think it helps to give your work credibility. And customers seem to be impressed by it, which is always good!

I don't have a kindle but I do have a blog. I didn't know about publishing on kindle. I'll look into it and report back after I get set up (in a day or two).

FYI, my blog is http://heartfulart.blogspot.com/ - so curious about publishing on kindle - it looks like it's monetized when people subscribe. I'm curious if anyone here has this experience and if it's a needle in a haystack of zillions of blogs. Hummm.

I've had jewelry from my other shop published in Jewelry Affaire magazine. Matter of fact, the newest article will be out in just a few weeks - I can't wait to get my copy. :D
