General questions

Hi everyone. Just joined the team. I opened my shop in 2009. No sales. Was very frustrated. So I stopped. I just re-opened my shop and have items that are easier/quicker to make and less expensive. But, I still have no sales. My items are made to order and I am making some things ahead of time so I can get pictures up.

I have a Facebook page. I have my old items on my facebook page (in case anyone wants to order one).

I still have no sales. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your critiques/suggestions.

Re: General questions

Two things just from first glance- you need a banner and more items.

I would also suggest sticking to one background to make your shop look more cohesive.

Re: General questions

at a quick glance a few things stood out to me:

1. it's hard to get found if you do not have many items in your shop (the more possible points of entry the better!)
2. you are only using about half of your 13 tags - try filling them up and using keyword phrases instead of single words
3. 1-2wk shipping time seems a bit long - while 1 week would not deter me, 2wks may unless the item was going to take the seller hours and hours to complete
4. take more photos - maybe even model a pair of slippers on your feet - having only one photo in the listing does not show a buyer much or that you pride yourself on your work and want to show off all it's amazing angles!
5. vary the titles of your item descriptions a bit. they all start with 'fur slippers' so maybe try varying your first key words a bit and see if something works better than another

hope this helps and good luck!

You say in the description that these slippers are made to order but you give no information about sizing, style, colors or name personalization. Put each option along with a sizing chart and color availability in the description and let the buyer know if you prefer the information sent to you ahead of purchase with a convo or after purchase in "notes to seller" of the invoice.
Give the customer all the information they need and they will be more likely to purchase.
Here is a nice example for you to use as inspiration.

Re: General questions

Wow. Thanks for the great comments. I am trying to crochet more color variations as quickly as possible to put more items up.

Any clue on how to make banners?

I will be taking different pictures this weekend.

Re: General questions

You can make a basic banner using a photo editor that includes text. You can also buy them here on Etsy and can get a good looking banner for less than $5.

Re: General questions

Under your shop name (where it says Jen's Tangled Threads), you've typed in Jen's Tangled Threads again. The second line should be a clear description of what you sell. This is what search engines like google will pick up so there's no need repeat your shop name again. It should say something along this line: "Beautiful shawls, decorative doilies, comfy slippers" You're limited to the amount of characters so make it short, sweet and to the point.
