First impressions- page 1

If you have a moment, please would you click on my shop and tell me what you think of my first page? (in gallery mode)

I have been working on this a lot recently and would love to hear your first impression of my shop and even my art if you like (yes art critiques welcome, be honest! I'm being brave asking that I know!) if you were browsing for art what would make you look around or leave?? As I say I have been rearranging a lot recently and want to hear what you think, I decided I should treat my first page like a treasury as after all it's basically our shop window display!

I would love to hear your views, fresh eyes are invaluable! Thanks so much in advance!

hey joanne.

when I look at your page, my eye instantly goes to the colored items that are all in one column. It does make me scroll to the bottom, but it also drowns out all of the other beautiful zentangle works you have listed. I'm sure you played around with the design a lot, and decided on this with great care. But, honestly I would rather have the colored pieces moved around, so they are not all in one vertical line. Since those are the only pops of color, they will draw the viewers eyes around, drawing more attention to the black and white pieces int he process.

I'd also lose the coloring pages and planner from your top 4 featured items. Those listings do not scream art shop at all.

p.s. I'd love to hear your thoughts on my front page as well. I've been trying to tweak it, but I think I have lost perspective since I've been staring at it so much. Much thanks.

Agreed about the colored items all in one column, I'd rather see them mixed up. I think you are talented- good luck with your shop!

I happen to LOVE your shop. I stumbled upon it a few days ago. I love this pic. I am trying to have another baby , and i feel like this would look beautiful in a little girls room, with the bird in purple or pink and a little color on the flower. Just beautiful work!!!!

I agree with the others. Your featured items on top row look great because it shows a variety of what you have available. Probably would look better to mix up the other listings also. Love your Zentangles!

Seems like I need to revisit this and split up the colours! I Thi k it is a never ending task to be honest! Esp as I am trying to add something new every day as well!

I have the diary and colouring pages in the featured boxes as they are 2 of my best sellers.... Afraid if I hide them they'll stop selling!

Evey I really like your first page, you have a great mix of colours, it looks beautiful :-) looks like your shop is doing really well at over 50 sales! Well done!

I have looked your store very often, about each 2-3 days. Just want to look your new art....

I like your little birds, and Doodle planer. I believe you knew that, I added it as favorite item couple weeks ago.

Your store looks as your art, very orgainzed, white and black looks super near. (I like simple, the same as my store,)

Colored little birds "fly" among blach and white art now and then, looks so cute.


In short, I love your art, your style, and your store.

I agree with the other suggestions--your featured products really grabbed my attention because it felt like there was a lot of diversity in what you offered. I think you do need to be careful about spreading out the colors and shapes in the rest of the listings. I think the way you have everything listed, it makes me scan your shop more quickly (since like items are grouped together), which is probably not what you want people to do. Best of luck!

Love your art! My eye was drawn to the column of color and then to the larger items on the last column. Your drawings are beautiful!

I love how cohesive your shop looks! I agree that maybe splitting up the colors would be a good idea but besides that I think it looks great! And yes, it is never ending haha!

My first impression is that you need to make your banner stand out more. It's so similar to the items in your shop that it gets lost. Perhaps just a border around it would fix that?

Secondly, I do agree with the others. Normally I think it's a good thing to have some order in your listings, in columns as you've done, or just in groups. But it really doesn't seem to work so well for you, probably because one row is coloured and the others are not.

My eye goes straight to the coloured ones - those are cute!

I agree about the column thing. I see the colored pictures, and hardly notice the elephants, which is surprising, as I collected elephants!! I like your artwork, but I think you need to mix the order up just a bit. I noticed there are some framed pictures on other pages, but none on the first page. Otherwise, the pictures are nice and bright, and the shop has a nice feel.

I will have a play with the order tonight to try and spread the colour around and keep it cohesive! Thanks for all your lovely compliments about my work I really does mean a lot. And for your input- it's so hard to really "see" what you've been staring at for so long!

The banner was a really quick temporary thing, I plan to design one, a hand drawn one with a little splash of colour, probably blue and/or green I'm thinking- so thanks for reminding me of that! It's on "the list"!!
