First craft event this summer..

I've been approved to be a vendor at a local summer festival. Yay. :)
But now, I have been thinking a lot about pricing.
Those of you who have participated in craft shows, do you sell your items for the exact same price as you do on Etsy? Less or more?

I've also been reading some of the thread about pricing (which I am sure this online lab will be great), and according to some of the formulas I saw my prices are too low. But I really don't think I would get sales if they were any higher.

Thank you for your reply :)

Charge the same at the fair as you do here. You will be giving out business cards , I imagine, and people dont like to see variances in price. I do shows often , if you have any other questions I would be glad to help if I can.

Re: First craft event this summer..

hi,
I am taking part in my first ever craft fair this Saturday (although it is just in a small village) and I am planning to make prices a bit lower, say 10%. First you can always say that today at the fair you offer your best prices and it is worth buying now (otherwise people will take your business cards and think that they can always go on-line and buy it there but will they?) Second for the sales at the fair you do not pay any commissions to Etsy or Paypal so you can afford a bit lower price. Anyway that was my logic. What do you think? Am I wrong?

Re: First craft event this summer..

You both make a lot of since, I really appreciate the responses.
I am also wondering, how do I go about giving a receipt? I feel like I have seen paper that you can write on and will trace through to the paper underneath making a copy. Does anyone know what I am talking about? Know what it is called? Or is that not even necessary?

Re: First craft event this summer..

Most people don't expect receipts at street fairs but if you are keeping track of your sales for tax purposes, then it makes sense to get those 2 part receipt books (available at staples, wal-mart, etc.). Also, I highly recommend getting a square credit card reader if you have a smart phone. I got one and used it at the Antique Faire we had in March and it was great! It resulted in hundreds more dollars of sales for me. I put up a sign that said "Save your cash! We take all credit cards!" and they saw the sign and bought things they wouldn't have...You can read about it at www.squareup.com.

Thank you, yes I need to keep records for tax purposes. And I wish I had a smart phone!!
I will look at walmart and office type stores for a receipt book :)

Well being able to accept credit cards is a great advantage especially in my case when the cheapest item starts from £15 but I do not have the possibility now. will see first how the first craft fair goes. Do you accept bank cheques though?

I didn't even consider checks.
When doing a craft show who accepts checks? Is it safe? What if you are written a bad one?
