First Communion trends?

I have been offered to participate in a First Communion fair in one month. I said yes, and now i'm freaking out because all I have done on First Communions is a few hair accessories, some years ago.

So those of you who know about the topic, or who have kids having their First Communion soon and have done research; can you please tell me what is trending in hair accessories, invitations, and favors? Thanks!!!

( I am aware that First Communions shouldn't be about trends, or anything superficial. However, moms do ask for original and unique stuff for their children).

White, white, white!

My son made his First Communion last year and the girls all looked like little brides. There were veils, headbands with white flowers, and tiaras. Little girls had white gloves, cross necklaces, and I even saw little sparkly clip on bows on one girl's shoes.

I wouldn't necessarily say there are trends with First Communions. Just makes things that are popular & make them in white. :)

I agree with Catherine. My youngest made her First Communion almost 8 years ago so it's been awhile. The girls wore fancy white dresses, veils, white tights or socks and white shoes. You could offer headbands with white flowers or shoe clips, like Catherine mentioned.

As far as invitations and favors, I didn't do anything fancy (if I did I would have made them myself! lol). I used store bought invitations and had a small gathering at my home afterwards. I didn't have any favors or anything like that.

First Communion can happen at any age.

In most cases it happens when the kids are between 7 and 16 years old, depending on the church but there are many who take their first communion as adults.

White is the common colour for girls as its the symbol of purity. Boys generally wear a dark suit.

However for adults, the women simply dress 'appropriately' which generally means a dress or suit suitable for wearing to Sunday Mass. Men generally will wear an evening suit.

In many congregations, the most common gift is to give the communicant either their own bible or prayer book. When my partner was confirmed about 10 years ago (at the young age of 60) I gave him a copy of the King James Bible.
