Feedback on my Shop

Hello dear team,

I was wondering if some of the experienced sellers could give me some feedback on my shop, and things I might have to improve. I'm a bit frustrated, because I have only had one sale so far. Two of my items have been featured on FP USA, but that didn't bring me a single sale. What is wrong with my items? Is photography just really hard to sell? Are they too expensive? Have already gone down with the price a bit, but since I live in London, and my expenses, and material costs are high, I can't really lower the price any more. Except if I change the way I print...

I have opened the shop in December, (officially in the summer, but took me a while to get things started properly). I'm reading a lot of advice, guidelines and so on in teams, and checked out how successful shops run their business. But seems that I'm doing something wrong still. Or am I too impatient?

I'd immensely appreciate some feedback, and advise!!

Thank you in advance.
Jana

Your photos are great! The only suggestion I have is that you need more listings. Add more of your wonderful photos and you'll get more views and more sales. Good luck!

Your shop is great. I totally agree with Jill, you need some more items.
I think you could also change the first 3 words of your item titles. Most of them begin with Fine Art Photography. You could use various terms in order to get find in search results by people who use different keywords.

Re: Feedback on my Shop

I agree, you just need more photos. I just opened in December too, I think it takes time to build a base. I read a comment from a successful Etsy seller once that said it took them four months to make their first sale. I'm still getting the hang of this whole thing, trying different tactics to bring in traffic. So far, I have been trying to favorite/follow people every day. I just made a Facebook fan page a couple of days ago, and have started a giveaway to hopefully increase interest. I also created my first treasury this morning. When I have time, I also look up different pieces of advice that people post about creating a successful shop.

If you (or anyone) could give me a review on my shop, I would really appreciate any help and advice!

Re: Feedback on my Shop

Thank you guys. Super helpful to hear what you think.
I do have a bunch of new pictures coming up from my latest travel. So working on that. And Georgia's point about changing the item titles is very helpful, too. I was wondering about that. Going to change them.

Carlee, thanks for your comment, that soothes my worries. It is true, probably I just need to be more patient.
I love your shop, and your beautiful crochet headbands. The only thing I can say is maybe your item description could be a little more personal. At the moment it is very descriptive. I would include what you say in your about page in every item description, that every work is a piece of art to you, and tell a little story about how you made the piece. Doesn't need to be long, but I think that helps to engage people. Just shooting here, because I am new to this myself...but I'd like to hear a story.
I would also include the phrase about why the pieces are artworks to you, in your shop about page. That's what makes your shop special, and stand out. Good luck and keep in touch,

Thanks again, Jana

Re: Feedback on my Shop

Hi Jana,
I just opened my shop in July and it took several months to start making good sales. I chose to advertise through Etsy and I did Facebook for a few months but I don't think it added anything.
One thing I'm confused about is the name of your shop. I think photography is an art, so is this a Britishism that I don't get?

Re: Feedback on my Shop

HI Anne,
hope you still get to read this, i was travelling...
Okay good to know. I am quite an impatient person :) Always been that way. So I'll just have to keep working and waiting.

Ya the shop name is an ironic statement. Because I work in the professional art world as well, and there sell photographs for a lot more than here. But I find that the artworld is a strangely exclusive world. It takes a long time to get established and make enough sales to live of it. So I chose to make an affordable art series, that is more grounded and reaches more people. trying to loosen up what i learned in art college what you are supposed to do as an artist....
Am still thinking of a good way to bring the reason for the name across in fewer words on the about page of my shop.
