Feature suggestion

Hi All,
I've published this on discussion forum but it was buried so fast that I'm afraid almost no one has noticed. As I think is a good Idea and want it to get into ETSY's radar, I'm republishing here:

As I guess to many of us have happened, a couple of the sold out items in my shop have a good number of visits (from Pinterest and other sources). Since for some of us (mainly hand crafters, but I guess it can be true in a way for vintage and supply) it takes time to make a new item or series, wouldn't be a good idea to have a feature to let the buyer know when is available again?

I mean something like " Sorry, this item sold. Do you want to be notified when it becomes available again? (check box) meantime, you may also like:"

By the seller side, when preparing the listing, we could have a choice like:
if sold out:
I will list more (radio button)
this is unique (radio button)

and finally, it will be great if the seller can have a feedback on how many people have asked (or is asking) for it.

What do you think?

I'm not sure if Etsy would do something like that, but it would be great if potential buyers could be notified automatically when a sold out listing they like goes back up! And stats on that would be even better.

I'm not sure how complicated will be from programming point of view, but I for me at least, will be a very good sales tool. I wonder how many more of the sellers will consider this good enough to make a formal suggestion to Etsy. By the way... is there any "Etsy suggestions mailbox"?

I don't know how complicated it would be to implement this idea. However I like it very much!

I've been thinking about this exact same idea for a while - it would be really helpful for both buyers and sellers! (plus it already exists on many other retail sites...)

Not quite sure about a formal suggestions mailbox, but maybe also having it posted in the forums (where there seems to be more traffic/eyeballs) might be a good way to get it noticed?

thank you all for the feedback!
I'm kind of newbie on this of online selling and Etsy is the only venue in where I've been. When I first thought about the idea I was quite excited, but after your comments and a good night sleep I realized that... well, they have been on line for many years, with lots of experienced sellers, have built a very professional team, so for sure they have thought about it... if it is not implemented yet, they must have a reason why.

I wouldn't just assume that haha. It can't hurt to send them an email suggesting it! Even if nothing happens, no harm.
