Do you create a separate business page on facebook for your Etsy store or do you use your personal page?

Re: Facebook

I use a separate business page. This way an unlimited number of people can like the page and you can keep business and personal posts separate. Also, you don't want to have to accept to add people as friends. Plus a personal page caps you at 5,000 friends.

Re: Facebook

Another question though. When I hit facebook now it goes to my personal acct. When I create a business one how do I direct it there instead?

Re: Facebook

I use a business page. I would not want to use my personal page for advertising! Or the fact my customers would see way to much of my personal life.

When you create a business page, you create it through your personal page, AKA your personal page is tied to it. The way you use that page is just go that your business page itself. When you do that your notifications show up for your business owe, and when you comment on your page you comment as the business page, not your personal profile. You can also switch from your personal to your business with the menu in the upper right corner.

Re: Facebook

Is the business page supposed to be tied to your personal page? I just did that and I can't get anything on it. Everytime I try it wants me to go back to my personal page. HELP! What am I doing wrong?

Re: Facebook

Hi Fran!
On the top right hand corner of any facebook page, as part of the top navigation bar, there is a downward arrow. This arrow lets you choose which Facebook account you would like to use at the time. So it will have your personal Fran account and your Franrose account. Once you select to use fb as your business page, and you click on news feed, for example, it will only show you your fan page's newsfeed.
When you are ready to switch back to your "regular self" simply click on the top right downward arrow and select your personal account.
Hope that helps!

Re: Facebook

Thanks Daniella I finally figured that part out but now I can't invite new people or really do much on that page. it tells me to go back to my personal page. Guess it takes time.

no one ever seems to like or write anything back to me. Do any of you want to show me your fb pages with good examples of what you post?

Thanks, Heather

Re: Facebook

I use a separate page for promoting my prints as my personal FB page is kept quite 'personal' with less than 100 real friends, I post pictures of what I'm growing in the garden, links to political articles, basically lots of stuff that is not for public consumption.

I should use the business page more; the idea above of posting daily and not neccessarily specifically about products is a good one. I could post any art related (interesting!) links to keep things moving.

Re: Facebook

I am usually not a facebook fan, but do have a personal page and have recently added a second page for business and added my ETSY shop to that, but is there a way so that visitors can go directly to that page and see the shop itself without having to search for it? it gets very frustrating

Re: Facebook

Ugh, I am not good at the social media thing. I have a separate Facebook business page and Twitter account. It is hard for me to write good, interactive posts. I don't want to be too overbearing with promotional stuff. I try to offer tips and knowledge about my area of expertise. I have recently had a few people "unlike" my Facebook page and I am trying to not take it personally.
