Extra little something in packages?

Hello everyone,

Is there a little something you add to the package you send to your buyers? To make it extra special..

Sometimes a seasonal magnet (crochet) or some thank you tags and price tags - depends on if I know it is another seller or just a random buyer. But yes, I always add a little something extra.

Kind of like doing the magnet thing - it has been appreciated (have one customer who has to hide them from her Mom).

Yes! handmade gift tags, beaded emery boards, bath salts, mini color pencil sets. We try to match color and theme of the item bought.

From the feedback we receive our customers love it!

I think that's the beauty of Etsy, all of the personal touches. I love little extras but have a hard time figuring out what to send myself..

I always do! I crochet a little hair clip, headband, something like that. It makes it seem so much more personal!

I include a blank gift card with all my t-shirt purchases. I also include a hand-written note for the buyer to thank them.

I include an extra card or tag or something larger depending on the purchase. I also try to package my orders with tissue paper, twine and a little thank you card. I like to make the order arrive packaged like a little gift.

I usually send extra mini cards or tags, or add a few extra of what they ordered in the package. And a quick thank you note, handwritten.

Yes I give vintage cards in my vintage shop and my packaging shop doilies and stickers
I think people like it and I know when I order from someone on etsy I always get alittle thank you gift and I always love them.

What about coupons?

I almost always send samples of lotion or lip balm. With bigger orders, I also like to throw in a full sized lip balm or several bigger sized samples. Just an easy way to show how much I appreciate my customers! =)

@Johanna - I've experimented with sending coupon codes. For two months, I sent half of my orders a note that included a coupon code, the other half a note without a coupon code.

Not ONE person used the code, but an EQUAL number from each group have since placed repeat orders.

I've experienced the same, Gena. I always used to include coupon codes and never had anyone use it. Shop announcement, facebook, included in packages... still never used.

I always include a hand written note and take extra care with my packaging. If the order is large then I will include an extra card or a pack of gift tags. We always provide a coupon code for our repeat buyers.

Hmm I would have never thought that. I have a hard time figuring out what to add to the packages because my items are paintings. There really isn't any room left to put something other than paper, which is why I was thinking about coupons.

I include a coupon with a coupon code that can be used within a 1-3 month period. My coupons are 15% to 20% off. Some customers use them. For the most part, my repeat customers don't use them. But, I always receive thanks for including them in their orders. I used to place extra tags and gifts in my packages, but I never received as much thanks I do, now, with the enclosed coupons. I also write "Thank you," and sign my name on the order invoice. My 2 cents! Take care and many sales to all of us!

I sell prints and with each order I send a set of 4 note cards with envelopes, a coupon and personal thank you note. The note cards led to my first repeat customer who ended up purchasing a print of one of the cards I sent. The coupon I have only just started so we will see if anyone uses it.

Chocolate...by far all of my buyers are women.. include a couple pieces of dove and ta da getting all these thanks yous for the extra gifts.

I started this around the christmas/ black friday rush, but has been so well received figure i would continue

I would like to as well, but am stumped, as I do jewelry. I add a little heart origami card to write my thank you attached to their box, I'm thinking I can make a little packet of heart tags? Or would that be odd?

Not odd at all...sounds lovely, Diana. I always add an extra for every item purchased which can include a custom made bookmark with my shop logo, a vintage postcard, a couple of vintage Christmas tags or a Cracker Jack prize.

Most importantly, I try to buy all of the little extras from other Etsy sellers and then I refer my buyers to their shops when asked (which is quite frequently).

I make sure that every package gets a hand written note.

I stopped doing the coupons once I realized that they weren't being used.

As for any other 'extras' if its a repeat customer who's purchased number of times, I'll often add in a small something.

But I will NOT include anything scented or anything edible in a package. Scents can cause extreme reactions for some people and edibles just don't work.

I always put a hand -written thank you note in, as well as a gift tag or another variation on what they bought (if they bought a food label, for example) I've just started included a coupon code this week so I can't say yet how it will go!
