Everywhere Else Shipping..

How much do you think this should be on jewelry like mine? I have not had an international order and I don't have any idea on the cost! Any advice appreciated.

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

I don't have an "Everywhere Else" on my shipping profile because when I researched international rates I found them to be different depending on the country. I list rates for what I think are the more popular countries (Canada, UK and Australia). I put a note in my shop announcement saying that if you're from another country other than what's listed and want a shipping quote to just send me a convo. I have a postal scale at home and can get the rates from USPS.com.

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

Thank you for your advice, Judy. I have been told before I need to raise my shipping prices, I just did that a bit...I would like to offer free shipping on more than one item, but I don't think I can afford it!

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

I used to charge $2.56 on international shipping and it would pretty much cover everywhere. Since parcel post went up, now i have to charge $4.00 to cover everywhere. Canada is cheaper and $3.00 will ususally cover them. If you want to offer free shipping make it on a more expensive item or offer free shipping to U.S. only. If you make the label through paypal, Its only$1.64 i believe don't quote me on that. I don't have it memorized yet since the price went up. The $1.64 is for the U.S. shipping only

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

I don't think I'll ever offer free shipping. As a buyer I expect to pay shipping. I've sold on ebay for years so I have a pretty good idea of what shipping fees should be for certain types of items. As long as a seller is charging a reasonable shipping fee, it doesn't affect my decision to purchase. If it's over the top I won't even consider buying it. For example, just the other day I saw a listing for something very lightweight and the seller was charging around $9.00 to ship it. It was even too much for priority shipping.

Do you have a postal scale at home? That's the only way you're going to know your exact shipping costs (unless you haul all your stuff to the post office everytime you want to figure out shipping). Make sure you weigh it with all the packaging.

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

Mu guess, your jewelry will weigh package up about 2 to 5 oz. When I ship everywhere else UK and as far as Australia at 2.5 oz, the postage for first class is $4.56. You may want to add extra $1 or so for packaging / handling. Or you can do like Judy does... ask the buyer to contact you so you can give a more accurate rate. Of course you need to have a scale at home or has access to one. My local post office has a public scale, anyone can use it for free.

Or you can also send flat rate priority. I used priority a while back but realized I got more international sales when I opted for first class. Just lately an item lost during holiday season, I reshipped another one. I don't have any clue where its at because there is no tracking for international first class. The risk is quite minimal so I finally go with first class. However when I shipped something over $100, priority insured, is the best bet.

Hope this helps

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

I ship my Jewelry everywhere else for $3. Usually costs like $2 or so. With tracking will cost me $13+ or more. So I just use regular shipping with no tracking. Its a risk.

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

dont feel like you have to ship international at a risk. There's insurance such as shipsurance that covers international shipping with no tracking.

Re: Everywhere Else Shipping..

:-( I just took a bath on shipping to New Zealand because he bought four things from me and I had put Ship With Another Item at $3 under "Everywhere else...." It never occurred to me, duh, that someone might buy more than two items. But when all the glass from four listings is added up it costs a fortune to ship, way more than $3 each. *sigh* Must fix that on heavy items, anyway.
