Etsy Shoptimizer?

Recently my sales have been declining and I've been hearing great things about the Etsy Shoptimizer. Just now I decided to give it a try, however I saw a few things that concerned me and decided not to.
On the Application Authorization, it says it needs permission to "Create and Edit listings in your shop" and "Edit your shop, including description, policies, sections and banner".
Does Shoptimizer really do this? I'd like to use it since so many of you enjoy it, but have you had experiences where it changed your shop? I would not like that.

The permission allows them access to your shop info so they can grade you on various aspects. Then the app allows YOU to change your titles, descriptions, shop announcement from shoptimizer instead of bouncing back and forth between etsy and shoptimizer...it won't do anything on its own. I found it helpful!

Marchelle, I felt EXACTLY the same way....I've had the same concerns about the application and didn't proceed....it sounded like you're giving up control of your shop....

I took a look at the Shoptimizer and found the results rather humorous.

It told me that my titles were wrong, that I needed to improve my tags and that my shop announcement needed work.

When I look at my sales and how people find my shop I just laughed.

No computer program can tell you how to write titles that a buyer will use to find your work. Only you can do that.

I just added it and used it today. I was skeptical about the permission to change things, but it didn't do anything, just made suggestions about where to change things. It gives you buttons to link back to your shop to change things. I found it moderately helpful.

I'm with CrochetGal. It gives me two Fs and a B. I have great views and I have as many sales as I can handle without having someone else help me.

I really think the whole having short titles thing is off. I think the long titles that I have really help bring people into my shop.

etsy shoptimizer is the worst for the reasons crochetgal mentioned.

This is actually a dangerous app if you follow it. I do not have high sales, but the one time I followed the changes it was a disaster and I had to go back to my original content. A computer analysis is not the right information to follow.

Could be good to flag major problems if you are already aware of them to some extent... personally don't find it that helpful because it gives me grades but doesn't tell me where it went right or wrong.

Hi, I know it is an old thread but would anyone know what happened to Shoptimizer? I cannot find it anywhere. Would you know if it changed names or maybe of another tool that would do the same?

I would never give optimizing my shop out of hands.
I constantly do that myself. This is MY shop.
And if you don't feel confident: there is plenty of free info around to optimize your own shop!

Marianne, Shoptimizer was removed as an Etsy app.

I would suggest that you do your own optimization for the reasons stated previously in this thread.
