Etsy Search Ads

I signed up yesterday for the Etsy search ads but most of my tags were deemed "unavailable" by Etsy so I'm not getting many hits. Does anyone know why Etsy deems so many tags words as "unavailable'?

Re: Etsy Search Ads

To be honest I have no clue what they did to search ads since they changed them, but your best bet it to just cancel them, they are just a waste of money...

Re: Etsy Search Ads

On the contrary, search ads were working just fine until they changed over to Browse mode. I got in touch with etsy admin and they are having issues with the ads apparently. they said that if you are not getting impressions, you will not be charged.

I don' t think that your keywords were disabled on purpose. The Ads are going through an issue and hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Re: Etsy Search Ads

I'm currently running search ads and getting views and sales even after the addition of browse. Search is still a massive way that people find products so the ads will still work, no need to cancel ads that are currently running.

However I'm not sure why some tags are unavailable - I'd been keen to find out the answer to that!

Re: Etsy Search Ads

Just FYI: I have always had great success with search ads personally, I pay very close attention to my tags & items and hack away the ones that aren't doing well until I have a Cost per Click of about $0.10 or less.

They disable tags because they aren't used very often in search or result in such little traffic that they know that you using them would just waste your money. You can argue about whether or not they are right, but I'm going to trust the guys with the epic amount of data on all of Etsy.

So you may want to take another look at your tags, see if you can think of any better ones (or ask someone what they would type in). But honestly you don't want to use a bunch of different tags. You want to cut your tags down to just the 10 that bring in the most traffic (or less if your allowed).
