Effective and Creative Packaging Ideas

I'm trying to work on packaging my products. I think I'm doing fine, but I can't help feeling like I could do better. I thought we could share our packaging techniques and maybe come up with some new ideas before the Christmas rush!

Right now I wrap the item in raffia and tie a bow. Then I write a short thank you with a coupon code on the back of my business card and tie the card to a lollipop which is the free gift. Then I mail it all in a homemade mailer that I make out of scrapbook paper. What does anyone think of that and what do you all do?

Do you do anything special for Christmas? I really don't want to make my packages heavier for shipping, so I'm thinking I might just include a Christmas card with each purchase for them to give to the recipient.

Re: Effective and Creative Packaging Ideas

I just wrap in tissue paper, tie a bow around it, attach a thank you tag (I have Christmas tags for later), and put a coordinating handmade bookmark under the ribbon.
What is raffia?

Re: Effective and Creative Packaging Ideas

I put my items in white or craft brown boxes that I have stamped in gold with a peacock feather and I tie a pretty bow around it. I also include a note on cardstock stamped with the same feather and the words 'thank you' -on the inside of the card I hand write the thank you note and include a coupon code. I also include one of my business cards.

Re: Effective and Creative Packaging Ideas

Thanks for the flickr link. Lots of inspiring ideas. At the moment I'm keeping my packaging quite simple- natural brown card box with gorgeous ribbon, with a small swingtag with maramjewellery printed on it. I also enclose a business card and a care leaflet which doubles up as a 'thank you for your order' with my web/FB links on it.. Sometimes packaging up an order can take as long as making it so I'm trying to streamline things. One thing I don't like about how I'm doing things at the moment is bubblewrap.. has anyone got a great solution for keeping things still during transit??
