Editing photographs in Picasa

Hi there,

I'm having some trouble using Picasa.

I seem perfectly able to change the photos, and make them how I want them. But even after I've saved them, it still comes up with my unedited photos in my photo folders that I can use to upload onto Etsy. What am I doing wrong? I don't see why I would want to edit my photos when I can't use the edited version.

Is it an easy mistake to amend, or am I better off getting a different editing program?
(If you're going to suggest a program, please let it be free and available in the UK - as I am short of money... and live in the UK!)

Cheers, Marie.

Re: Editing photographs in Picasa

Do you save them to a different file on your computer?

That's what I do. Rename the file and save it in my special shop folder.

Re: Editing photographs in Picasa

I use the option to "export to" and save it to a separate folder on my computer.

Re: Editing photographs in Picasa

Did you import them before you edited them? If so, they'll be automatically saved to the new folder. You can edit photos in Picassa without importing them first.

Re: Editing photographs in Picasa

You need to save them with a file name that you can retrieve later when you go to post them. My photos in Picasa are all arranged by the date I took them, so each day that I do my photographs has a separate folder. Then when I edit a photograph, I "Save As .....". I usually save my five pictures as a1, a2, a3, and so on, and then when I want to post them, I go to that day's folder, and they are right there waiting for me. I have tried saving them just using "Save", but the same thing happened as is happening to you - my edits would either disappear or I just couldn't locate the edited picture again! Picasa is a very user-friendly editing tool, but it still takes a little time and some practice to get it working the way you want it to. Like anything worthwhile, it takes time to learn. I found the best way was to take tons of pictures and then I had plenty of material to experiment with using Picasa. I know there are a lot of people out there that like other types of editiing programs, but Picasa is easy and free -

Re: Editing photographs in Picasa

I keep mine in a separate "WildWoman Beads" folder that sends them to Picasa as soon as they download into that folder. Then I edit them, using "control" and "s" to save, and the saved edits automatically go back to the file folder. From there I can add them to Etsy.

It's easy but I didn't set it up. I had a photo expert set up the file and the ability to send them back and forth automatically. I've never had a problem.

The one thing I may be doing differently from you is in the way I save them. Otherwise, I'd suggest you have someone familiar with Picaso take 10 minutes to set up the separate file arrangement for you, and you should be golden.

I love Picasa.

Good luck! Let us know how it's working...

If you click the export button at the bottom that should save them :)
