E-mail vs. Snail?

I was wondering if y'all had any thoughts on this topic:

I'm thinking of doing a bit of press releasing to magazines, to see if they would be interested in listing my merchandise in their magazine. My thought is that if I send them an actual card, with a hand-written press release inside (yes, I DO have time to do that!), they might be more prone to look at the card, since they could then see the quality of the paper, printing, etc. (And they probably get hundreds of e-mails a day!)

What do y'all think? An e-mail is often difficult to write so it comes across as genuine and interesting, and I think a card sent via snail mail might just make it's own statement. Thoughts?

I agree! I can only imagine the number of emails those venues receive in a day and looking at your physical product would be so much better! Good luck with your venture!! :)

I vote snail mail. Not only will it get their attention, but like you said, be an example of the quality of your work! Maybe send them a follow-up email a few days later in case they haven't look through the mail yet and they will be able to quickly and more easily respond to you by hitting "reply."

Good luck!

River City: That's a good idea to send a follow-up e-mail! Hadn't thought of that! :-)

Thanks for the input!

Snail mail! It's more personal, it implies more time and effort for you but they will notice that,so they will see that you care about it. Plus having a sample of your work make things easier for them! And a follow-up email sounds a great idea!
Good luck!

If you have the option between snail mail and e-mail, I would 100% go with the snail mail! they would be able to get an actual feel of your product and you will be in more control of the design. This will be your first impression of what your company has to offer. Best of luck!!!

Snail mail with a handwritten note... But I'd be wary of handwriting the press release you want to include. It would seem unprofessional to send a handwritten press release.
