Dumb Question

I am fairly new on here. Does anyone know how to automatically have an item relist if you have multiples of the same thing? Do I just put more that one in the Quantity section when listing or is there another way? Thanks!

Re: Dumb Question

Yes, you are right, set the quantity to how many you have on hand of that item. In my case, it is how much of the supplies I have to recreate that item.

Re: Dumb Question

Keep in mind that if you're picky about keeping your items in a certain order in your shop (like me), the relisted item will land in the first spot on the front page. It's a good problem to have. ;)

Re: Dumb Question

Opinions needed....on the same subject !!

when doing craft shows If I made quantities of the same item such as the owls on my site now I would only display one and replace display when it sold. Otherwise potential customers would be overheard saying oh, there are several I can come back this way and buy it later. Which quite often never happened. Out of sight out of mind.
Question is this...what do you all think about listing several in your quantities here on Etsy...I know they can favor to come back later, but do you think the odds of selling are better if you list one at a time?

Re: Dumb Question

I do better when offering more than one. Just the other day I got an order for four sets of the same die cuts. I keep the quantity at 6 because they're made to order and I can easily make as many as a buyer needs. On the other hand, I had a set of six Christmas cards with a quantity of one, because that's all I had ready to ship and they take longer to make. Last weekend a buyer contacted me and requested 4 sets (sweet!) so I made them to order, which took 2 days. When it comes to card sets, I don't normally list more than 2 as a quantity because I don't want to have to store items that won't necessarily sell. If someone wants more they can contact me about a custom listing.

I don't think it's a matter of whether multiple quantities give you better odds of selling or not. It's up to you whether you're able to have multiple quantities ready to ship or if it can be made quickly if someone does want more than one.

Re: Dumb Question

Karen, good idea. on Etsy, I choose to list one or more than one depending on if I think people would buy multiples. So my gift tags, craft supplies, and in some cases bunting are listed based on how many I can make. However, for wreaths I list one at a time.

Re: Dumb Question

Eileen, Yes you list more than one quantity. Once the first item sells it will renew itself. I love this feature cause it helps me keep my inventory in check. Once I'm at 1 or 2 items I know my inventory is low.

Re: Dumb Question

If I have enough supplies to make several I always list a quantity. I get many who order several heating pads in the same fabric.

Eileen=
First off, there is no such thing as a dumb question! In answer to your question, yes, you just need to put in a quantity other than 1 either when listing the item, or from your listings manager page. Etsy will automatically renew the item's listing when it sells and will charge the listing fee to your account each time it renews. I have to agree with what others have said. I get more sales on products that I list more stock of. Case in point, my crocheted hot dog. I had 1 listed, and almost missed out on a big sale because a customer wanted 13 of them. Thankfully she was willing to send me a message and patiently wait for a response to see if I could make more for her. Not everyone is willing to do that though, so it's definitely good to show more stock when you can!

Re: Dumb Question

I think the thing with listing multiples is asking yourself if can you make all within the processing time. So, using the hotdog example, could you make 13 hotdogs in x number of days. When the customer requests multiple you can negotiate processing time.

Re: Dumb Question

I do mostly one of a kind, but when I have multiples I list the quantity. I only list what I already have made- I would be completely stressed out doing "made to order"!
