Does any one do custom made to order items at craft fairs

I think that would be a good idea. I have ordered personalized items at craft fairs a few times. I love being able to help with the design/color/personalization of the items which I purchase, it makes it more special ans unique.

Absolutely! I take many custom orders at the craft fairs. . . that always leads to loyal customers and repeat sales. Be sure to give out your Etsy information too. Many will come online to buy from you later on.

Folks *do* like customisable items! I see them a lot at some craft fairs, but not so much at the art shows. I haven't done a Holiday show in a while, but last year was pretty brisk sales for quite a few people. Not for me though. :(

Great idea... I've had great success offering custom orders and as CountryCents said, you'll create some wonder relationships with people and they will recommend you to others. You have probably already thought of this but just as a suggestion , with a product like your's where there is wording involved, I would have a sheet so you can print out what they want. You should write out their information and then have them sign off on it. That way you can read your own hand writing and there will be no question as to what printed. Also I would get a 50% deposit up front. Hope you don't mind the suggestions.

I think it's a great idea! I would just advise that you get a "down payment" before starting any work on the item. Good luck with your show!

I offered custom orders at craft fairs when I went to sell my photography. I usually took orders and payments on the spot, because I've had people flake out at the last minute, which isn't fun!

It sounds like a great idea to me. I am just about to do my first art and craft show and am now considering doing something similar, though with jewelry. I have done custom items for friends. I agree that it's a good idea to get a down payment. Half sounds fair to me!

I always get custom orders at shows. I take me embroidery machine and do small quick things on the spot....like the dogs name on a collar, and larger orders I take full payment for, plus shipping fee, and usually make it up and post it within week. This works out great for me. Good luck!
