Do you list your new items at once... or slowly throughout the week(s)?

Someone brought up the subject yesterday. I was clueless. They said it is better to relist or list the items slowly throughout the days or weeks. Is this really a try and true method/tip?

I posted the 100th listing yesterday. I listed about 3-5 a day not because I know of the technique of "slow-listing". I heard of it only yesterday. Maybe I've heard it before but I was tuned out. I was busy upping the inventory. I post new listings slowly because that's my pace. It was mental thing for me. Taking picture, editing, uploading, measuring, finding the prices for each, writing descriptions, stalling for ideas, hunting for right tag/title, bla...bla..bla.. I have to do it real slow to not overwhelm my dainty nerves :-)

Spreading it thin... Is it really working? Do you see evident in term of increase viewers, sales, favorites? I am completely intrigue with the concept!

Somebody told me the same thing a few months back. It does work. When you list a new item, it is flashed on the front page and then goes to another back page. I, myself have clicked on those new listings whenever one item appeals to me. I, personally did not get much traffic, but did notice that a few minutes after I posted an item, I got some views.

Oh, the same seasoned Etsyer told me that with new listings, you get the more views on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

I am glad Etsy has the "save as draft" feature. I have many items that I have to re-photograph. I will save my new items in the "save as draft" section and then publish them methodically every so often during the day and throughout the week. I hope I see more traffic in my shop.

I like posting slowly, a few per day. First off, time is a factor. It takes a long time all at list 100 items at one time. For me, I would rather have a few new ones per day. As an exaggerated example, if you list 100 on Monday, then Tue - Sun, people do not see you have new items. Keep them wanting to come back to see more, not say well I have seen everything in that shop, no need to go back.

That sounds like a good idea. I am going to start re introducing my jewelry slowly and see what happens.

I used to list them all at once, but then they would show up clustered in the top search results for a day and no more. however, that was before the new relevancy search, so I'm not sure it makes as much of a difference now. But I do spread them out a bit over a couple days.

I guess, then, especially if you are listing similar items, it would be good to spread them out. So I wouldn't list three pie crimpers in a row, but instead alternate them with other things. It's so tempting to do similar things in a line to streamline the listing process, but if all I do is bump my previous listings out of the "new listings" feature at the top of each search page, I'm not doing myself any favors.

based on recent articles put out by etsy, relevancy is still affected by listing time

for example, in the jewelry listings (like mine) the competition is very fierce. Even if your titles/tags... are all well thought out, there is still a 'time concept' of how recently something was listed, and your new items are likely to show up more than older listings. Listing everything at once puts your searches high for a short time only, whereas posting slowly over time keeps your items showing up constantly.
Once a browser finds your shop they can click through to your older items thus increasing your views and potential sales

I create my listings every few days and save as draft, then I log in and upload a new one every day or few hours depending on how many new items I am listing

I am taking notes. These are awesome tips. It does make a lot of sense. Like not putting eggs in one basket. In case you tilt the basket, you'll have no supper :-). Joking aside...

Spreading it wide, will keep the listings on top... say 5 pages. Of course the relevancy has to be taken into account to. Yet still... your newly posted items will pop up on top. Given the titles and tags are relevant.

Since my items take a bit to make, I usually list as soon as they are finished and photos taken. Of course, it I make them afternoon or evenings, I have to wait until morning to take the photos, so then there is a delay.
