I find treasures all the time that I want to keep. I have started to put a price on these items that will make me happy even if they sell, but if I really want an item...it always sells super quick. Darn it:)

Well, hopefully all items should be like that right? Then it means you are doing something right. I am guilty of this, and have kept some things. I have a tendency to make it then love it, then make more to sell.

Hi Denise! You can test drive mine if you want! Lol I don't mind! I make things and fall in love with them all the time too. However, my boys can only make use of so many jackets and winter hats! (luckily, they grow out of them quickly)

Good point Valon, I guess if we didn't like it ourselves then we probably wouldn't think it was good enough for others right? If we didn't love it, we probably wouldn't sell it. Thanks Rubi and I think I might need post its that say just that! And Nicky, I have to admit, I have modeled it in from the the mirror and thought...maybe she really doesn't want this one :)

Definitely. The first record birdcage veil I made I knew I had to wear in my wedding (it has a Count Basie record and I love him!). I used that picture as an image for custom veils, though. My fiance was kind of upset when I sold the first TARDIS candle, but he got over it when I made him another one.

Antoinette...I loved that! Dear husband said to sell it and to make sure I charged enough. My mom who is visiting suggested that I just list it for $800. and tell my husband that I did as he suggested and put it up for sale but if it doesn't see in a month, I get to keep it. Gotta love the Mama Bird!!

I always want to keep the things I make. I've decided that anything I make in workshops or classes I get to keep all other items I have to list.

Yup, happens all the time. And I give it a go in my shop and tell myself that if it doesn't sell by xx date it is mine. I'm also guilty of keeping supplies. Sometimes I will order pearls or bead strands and they are so nice that whatever I make with that is mine to keep.

I got two strands of some pearls that were just amazingly beautiful, they were all nacre big keishi. I went to the supplier's website to get more but they were out, so I kept one strand for myself. Once I made the necklace, I decided I wanted it long and used both strands. Just couldn't part with them!

Oh, and I justify keeping things to myself for advertisement purposes. After all, I make a point to always wear at least one piece of my jewelry when going out. Sometimes I get comments and I direct them to my Etsy shop.

Oh yes - I run a vintage shop and just recently sold a ring which I loved but business comes first. I know years from now I'll look back and say, "I should have kept that". :)

I have sold things to co-workers at work, they show up wearing it and I hear the compliments and I think the same thing Mireille. I even wanted to buy one back last week. :)

All the time! I love making things I really like. That's how I put my passion into things. But I love seeing things sell, too. I especially like seeing things sell in person and seeing the enthusiasm of those purchasing my handmade items. :)

No not really, I love what I create, its more of when i'm shipping them off is when I feel a twinge.....sniff, sniff I hope your going to a good home where your goingto be loved and cared for. lol
