Do I need to worry about feedback?

Hi, I have had 13 sales, and two feedback. I have actually had a repeat customer, one woman sent me a note saying how much she loved her stuff, but no feedback. Does it look bad on my shop if I don't have positive feedback? Is it rude to ask for feedback?

Lots of people don't respond BUT (if you want) you could put part of her comments into the descriptions of the items she's bought.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I have had the same problem with people not leaving feedback. I think people who do not use Etsy regularly (or just use it once to buy your item) realize how important it is. However, since they are not leaving NEGATIVE feedback, I don't see how that would would reflect negatively on you as a seller. And I agree with Chasa. Maybe putting part of the customer's comments in the descriptions of the items.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I am having the same issue. I have had 10 sales but only two feedback. I send the buyers a handwritten note thanking them for doing business with my shop, and if they have any issues to either send me a convo or leave me feedback. That still hasn't helped out much. I would agree with kelsey just as long as your not getting negative feedback, you shouldn't be concerned.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I wouldn't fret on it...I don't think as much emphasis is placed on feedback on etsy as it is on feebay.

I agree with Daniel. I think some people can get too worried about feedback... but how many potential buyers actually look at feedback?

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

Leaving feedback on Etsy isn't as intuitive as it is on Ebay, so I think a lot of customers don't realize they can leave feedback or don't know how. On the upside, I don't think as many customers look at feedback before buying as on Ebay.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

Hello,
if you want more feedback maybe you can try to explain to people how it works on Etsy.

When I send an item I join a message to thank people and I tell that if they have time and they want they can leave a feedback in the sections of their personnal account.

But the main thing is to know that they have well received your item and that they are happy even if they don't leave feedback on your shop. I find that people that write you a message is so kind that leaving feedback :-)

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I'd have to check and make sure it's allowed with Etsy rules (don't have the time to check at the moment), but what about having a quarterly giveaway for those who leave feedback between January-March, etc... You get feedback and they get more of your product/gift certificate to use? You can also increase your feedback by buying items on Etsy - the sellers can leave feedback for you as a customer :)

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

Of all my jewelry sales I think only ONE person left feedback, and this person has been on etsy for a while. As a shop owner I always feel that I should have a higher Feedback rating. But when I'm buying something here I just check for negitive feedback. Since you don't have any it shouldn't be a problem...

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I was thinking about offering a coupon code for free shipping or something when someone leaves feedback, but I think the quarterly giveaway is much better, brilliant in fact.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

I added the feedback link into the email that I send them when I send them tracking number and shipment confirmation. My issue is I am trying to turn my feedback around and bring my score up. But I am not having luck getting people to leave feedback. When they do I send them a convo thanking them for the feedback. :) maybe that will help them spread the word about my shop or be a repeat customer.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

When choosing an item to purchase, I look at the negative feedbacks that were left for a seller, if any. I don't so much read through the positive ones.

As long as you don't have negative feedback, I wouldn't be concerned. People can see how many sales you've made when they look at your shop and I think that counts more.

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

Most people don't know about leaving feedback - I didn't when I was new to Etsy and once I had my product there was nothing prompting me to go back to the shop and leave feedback - I just emailed the seller direct to say thank you and how much I loved the product. But yes put her comments in the description - can't hurt!

Re: Do I need to worry about feedback?

Don't worry about it. You will get plenty over time. And yes, it is rude to ask for feedback.
