Re: Do I need a Facebook page for my business?

Having a facebook business page really did nothing for my Business. I did get quite a few sales from my personal page though. Unless you have tons of followers and pay for advertising on facebook is a waste of time( IMHO). Since FB made the stupid changes your post won't really get seen anymore if you don't pay.

I deactivated both my personal and business facebook pages last month, and guess what? My views and sales are up. I do however have a WordPress Blog that has helped drive traffic to my shop.

I think it really depends on how you use it. If you really don't want it and don't want to dedicate the time, I think it's better to not do it then do it. For me personally, I get a lot more out of other social media sites like pinterest, wanelo, and instagram.

Good luck!

Re: Do I need a Facebook page for my business?

I don't have Facebook at all, and I'm doing all right without it. I used to, and I did set up a FB page for this shop. I did it so I wasn't constantly spamming friends who didn't care with info about my business. I had more fans on my business page than I had friends on personal page.

I do have people tell me they miss seeing my things right there on FB, but it's a huge time suck and the drama on the personal side was a bit too much.

Re: Do I need a Facebook page for my business?

I don't have a business or personal FB.
I can honestly say that business for my shop has been good, but I also work my bum off to promote my shop and items to my target market within and outside of Etsy.

So no, from my experience, you don't need one.

Re: Do I need a Facebook page for my business?

I have a business FB but twitter for me actually works better and instagram, I just made both accounts for my business last week and so far I have 122 twitter followers and only 4 FB followers. I have always struggled getting FB fans even from my other successful ventures, I always have a better reach with twitter, I'm also hoping more costumers will come from twitter and instagram as well, I am still working on pinterest, it hasn't worked for me before but I will start to figure it out soon, since great images = sales.

I have a facebook page and I don't think it's really helped with sales. Relevancy, SEO & direct advertising are much more beneficial to me.

Re: Do I need a Facebook page for my business?

I have a facebook page, I get a ton of sales directly on there. I get messages daily on my page asking questions about items and customization - and they more often than not turn into sales. I just send a paypal invoice and made a quick sale. It depends on HOW you use it. If you're just spamming people with listings, then you're not going to get anything from it. It also depends what you sell - I'm sure some product lines do better than others on facebook. But do you HAVE to have one? No! Find the social media outlet that works for you, and is easiest for you to interact with your customers with and utilize the heck out of it!
