Direct Traffic Views

I had a bit of a spike in my views today, and a large portion were in the direct traffic category. That's always been a category that seems a little odd to me. I think it's sort of the 'miscellaneous'. Does anybody have any insights into that part of the shop stats, or how I could figure out where the extra views are coming from?

Thanks!
Lexie

Re: Direct Traffic Views

I am not sure either, I always thought it's people that have your shop bookmarked and follow the direct link to your shop. But I may be wrong!

Re: Direct Traffic Views

Did you send out an e-mail, facebook update, or text a bunch of people with the link to your shop? Direct traffic means that people either typed your url in the navigation bar, or clicked a link that was in an e-mail or post. Maybe that is it? This could be very good news for you if you were posting links yesterday, it means people were reading and engaged in what you were saying! Hope this helps.

Re: Direct Traffic Views

I also thought it was people who have added your shop in favorites or that follow the activity.
I didn't know it was someone who type our url. Good to know
Thank you Glass Spring

Re: Direct Traffic Views

On that note, I have a huge spike in direct traffic views today...more than Etsy views. Does anyone else typically have more direct views? That's the first time that's happened to me. Ha! I'll take it either case.

Re: Direct Traffic Views

Mine spiked yesterday but then I was tweeting and blogging and on FB so that is why, I think. Most of my traffic is still from within Etsy but working on driving more in thru Google, Yahoo, Bing etc....

Re: Direct Traffic Views

Weird; I had a direct traffic surge today. I usually average between 5 and 10 direct hits, but today it's 40 and I've no clue why.

Re: Direct Traffic Views

Great to hear all of this positive news and I am so happy for you. I really have to work on the social network part of my shop and not sure haw to go about that but maybe I will have to find a savvy young person to help me.
Do you all think that Google, FB, Twitter, StumbleUpon etc. are a help to building your etsy shop? Good to hear what you are all saying.

Re: Direct Traffic Views

I usually see a spike when I am featured in an etsy email. Were you featured in one today?
