Did I go too far?

I just got an email from a customer telling that the earrings had gotten there and thanking me for them. I replied saying thanks for your order and gave them the address for entering feedback on etsy. Did I go too far? I don't want to seem pushy or do anything that etsy doesn't approve of, but I'm afraid that customers often don't realize that they can leave feedback.

Re: Did I go too far?

I don't think you did. I feel like you can tell which customers to suggest it to and which ones might take it the wrong way.

I hope she posts some amazing feedback for you!

Re: Did I go too far?

I think your okay! If I bought from someone and they sent me a link to the feedback page I would just figure it was a standard thing she sent to all her customers and I would go back and fill it all out =)

Re: Did I go too far?

I think you did the right thing--if she's happy and specifically took time to write you an email then she will leave great feedback.

My problem is that I haven't had an Etsy sale yet, and I wonder if it's because people think i'm not credible? is there any way to link reviews that i have from another website? (sorry if this seems like a silly question, I am new and confused!)

Re: Did I go too far?

Edith, one nice thing about Etsy feedback--you can get it buy BUYING things, too :)

I think it lends credibility if you get good feedback by being a good customer, too. At least, I always take that into account!

Re: Did I go too far?

I just got a order from China. The seller wrote me a note thanking me for a purchase and asked me to leave them a positive feedback, I liked the idea so next time I will be doing the same thing .

Re: Did I go too far?

I think that's a great idea, actually, as long as they've initiated the conversation and you don't make it sound demanding. I've had customers convo me with positive responses to my knitwear, and it honestly never occurred to me to send them a link to the feedback page. Brilliant!

Re: Did I go too far?

I always do that. Anyone who buys stuff on line should be use to that, I think it's weird not to. Kind of like when people who are good cooks try to open up a restaurant having never worked a day of foodservice in their lives...happens a lot round here, but they never last long...if you want to sell on line, ya ned to know the ins and outs of buying first, what easier way to identify with customers? the best way is to have been one.

Hey Edith, upload a photo for your profile picture and then fill out your profile so people know who you are and why you started your business. That will help customers to feel confident buying from you.
You access your profile under the Your Account link at the top of the page.

Also, make sure you completely fill out the policies section. Do you guarantee your work and accept returns? If so, how long do they have to return an item and what are the guidelines.

The more information you can give, the more confidence you will build.

Links will not work to outside sites. The only place a link will be live as far as I know is in the Message to Buyers that customers get after they purchase something. However, you can always copy and paste feedback into your listings if you want to.
