Did I go Overboard?

I have been working on updating my photos form plain white background to a more interesting look using props and my wrists. I think my new photos look great, but I also failed photography in collage (twice!), so I admit I am not the most photo savvy person.

In this photo can you see what I am selling or is it utter confusion? The theme of my shop is tribal and earthy jewelry, is any of this getting through in this photo or am I completely on the edge of the creative cliff by myself?

I was confused by the photo but after reading the description I understood what exactly it is that you are selling. It is a beautiful photo but maybe just a little bit busy.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

Oh, I am sorry, but this is confusing. I would hope customers would understand that they are only getting the one rose bangle and not the rest. Although you clearly say that in description, the first pic should be just the rose bangle alone.

I would like nothing in the background, I think the twigs are distracting. I would do just the rose bangle on a plain background, trying to get as crisp and clear as you can. Really pretty piece, by the way.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

Yes. Sorry, but yes. I looked at the listing and the only photo that shows what is actually being sold is the last one.
That photo should be first. If you want to show the bracelet with other pieces use them last, if at all.
BTW, the photos are very nice.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

The problem is that we have a lot of buyers who only look at the first photo and do not read the descriptions.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

I agree with the other opinions. Your first photos should clearly emphasize the item for sale. Buyers look at the first photo, so that one should be the clearest, showing color and detail.

I also sell jewelry, and find that showcasing the piece on a simple background gets me the most views. I try to show different angles, keeping in mind that prospective buyers can't pick up and try on the pieces, so the photos have to draw them in.

Yes I agree too, if someone doesn't read the listing clearly they may think they're getting the lot. Fab photo though, maybe just don't have it as your main pic.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

I like most of your photos, but agree with the others about showing just the one item for the main photo. I sell 3 pc. sheet sets, but also have some side photos that show other items that can be made to go with the sheets. The main photo shows only the sheet set, that is what in in the title, and that is what the lenghty description mentions. Toward the bottom of the description I do mention being able to custom make other matching items, but clearly the 3 pc. sheet set is the item that is listed. Still, I invariably get convos from potential customers asking what all is included in the listing. Some people just don't read. LOL

Re: Did I go Overboard?

Darn! I had a feeling that's what you'd all say.

Ok, back to the drawing board. I am just so tired of my lovely jewels being passed up for say, front page features. And then I look at what is being featured and all the jewelry is either on a model, or is laid on some kind of a prop.

But you're all right, (thank you all for your honest opinions). Re shooting today!

Re: Did I go Overboard?

Am I the only one who likes the photo... haha. I think I just really like how the wrist is on one side of the picture instead of centered... it looks artsy to me. White space instead of branches would look good also, maybe better. I like the look of them stacked together, so I think you should definitely keep that in the listing. Just, like other people said, have the first photo be of only the one you are selling... and clearly say (maybe at the beginning) that the listing is for the one bracelet.

Re: Did I go Overboard?

I love all of your photos except for the necklace on the model wearing black and the black background one. So just those 2...The rest are very artistically done and tie together well. Very pretty items!!! Good luck!

Re: Did I go Overboard?

oh yes, and the silver rose bud bracelet (stunning!!!!) should be shown in the the listing's first photo by itself...
i don't find the backgrounds of the other photos confusing.
