Dang it. Just learned something about creating a treasury.

I made a new treasury last night that I LOVE. It was late and I was too tired to convo everyone to let them know they were in my treasury. I set it as private and published it this afternoon when I got home from work.

I just went searching through the treasury list and got a little panicky when I couldn't find it. It was way back with treasuries that were created yesterday. So even though I didn't publish it publicly, it still looks at it as being published yesterday.

I was so happy about publishing this treasury and now it's already yesterday's old news. Boo.

Lesson learned.

Yup - if you save it for yourself, you have to start a new list and transfer everything over, because it starts from when you save it, regardless of whether you launch it publicly or not. I made the same mistake. *pouts* LIve and learn. LOL

You can still promote it yourself and let all the featured shops know they're in it!

The first few hours are the most important in the life of a Treasury, Eilidh. If it happens to get hot, it's going to do it within about four or five hours of curation. Once it's been sitting there for hours, no one is going to just stumble across it. I've had Treasuries Tweeted, Facebooked, or blogged about just because someone found it within the first ten pages or so of the lists.

I saw a treasury on the front page today and the creation date said 4 days ago, and it didn't have a lot of comments/clicks when it was first posted, so there's always a chance it will still be seen and/or also possibly chosen for the front page.

I highly recommend using Schmetsy for treasury curation. One of the nice benefits (among many) is that it lets you save a draft version. When you end up publishing that draft into a real treasury, it's still treated like a brand new treasury.

Yep, I agree with Julie on Schmetsy use. I'm a sloooow treasury creator, and I just used Schmetsy for the first time on my last one. The draft feature is quite handy. A few things about Schmetsy are kinda wonky, but the draft, "convo all," and single click (instead of cut-paste url) features are worth it.

I created a treasury on the weekend and that was a bad idea too, I though. It hardly got any views. Maybe that was just my experience though!

I have the link to download Schmetsy. I just haven't gotten around to trying it yet.

Emily, I think weekends are slower around here. Since I started listing items every day at the end of January my best view days have been last Thursday and today. I was at work for half the day today so figure that one out! (I can't do any personal online stuff at work so I didn't even peak at Etsy)
