Custom Regulations

Is there a site where I can find the custom regulations for every country?

Also, is anyone familiar with Australia's custom regulations. I believe I read somewhere that items that contain fresh or dried plant material cannot come into the country but I've seen people stating shipping prices who have plant material in there products....so now I am confused. lol

THANKS!!!

Re: Custom Regulations

Yes, go the section on USPS http://pe.usps.com/text/imm/ab_toc.htm. It has the listings for every country.

Re: Custom Regulations

Thanks for this, I was wondering myself, especially in regard to things like lavender sachets. I know it is contained but it is still seed.

Re: Custom Regulations

Gosh, really important thread! We include some dried seeds and beans in our work so need to make it clear where they cannot be sent (i.e. Australia) - question about Etsy settings - is it possible to exclude a country automatically from a listing - i.e. so a person from that country cannot even click 'buy'?

Re: Custom Regulations

Robert and Sophie.....interesting point about the option to exclude countries from a listing.

My question is who's responsible should an item get stopped at customs, the buyer or the seller?

Thanks for starting this thread.

Re: Custom Regulations

I have just found out that we, in New Zealand are even restricted with importing vintage clothing. I am only allowed to buy something for myself, I was thinking of getting vintage clothing because it is so hard to afford lace here but then I would not be allowed to up cycle it and sell it on. Weird and interesting restriction that one.
But dried seeds seem to be just fine.

Re: Custom Regulations

Yes - who is responsible is a good question. I would say the buyer, but then it's good for us as sellers to know about our own particular goods and make the customer aware if we know. I think I will add a sentence to my listings that include seeds for Australian customers about the customs regulations.. and that they need to be aware before they purchase.
