I just had my first auction on tophatter. We were out celebrating my birthday and I missed getting home for it by 12 minutes. I was auctioning one of my market bags that I sell here for $26. It sold for $6. Tell me it isn't so. I know there is nothing really to say, I just wanted to whine for a moment. crud.

Re: Crying softly into my lovely fabric

Laura, So sorry you had such a disappointing experience...just FYI they don't have a place where you can include Canadian Shipping in the invoice they send to the buyer, we are expected as sellers to invoice that separately for now, so go ahead and send them a bill for the overage (unless you explicitly said free shipping to Canada). Hopefully the TH community will evolve to appreciate the true value of fine handcrafted items! Best of Luck!

Another 'chalk it up to experience' and we learn from yours.
Mail it tomorrow and stay dry!
Hopefully your views and sales will increase.
Have a fantastic birthday.

Re: Crying softly into my lovely fabric

It sounds like someone got a fabulous deal on a beautiful handbag.

Perhaps include a few extra business cards in their order with some discount codes to share with their family and friends for 15% off. Because I a sure they are going to be raving about that bag and all there friends will want to know where they can get one!

Re: Crying softly into my lovely fabric

As a Canadian, I agree, send them an invoice for the overage. I'm surprised they bought not knowing if you even ship to Canada! I wouldn't place a bid on something if they didn't have Canadian shipping listed in the description or if the person wasn't there to ask! But as a Canadian I always expect crazy shipping costs! LoL It's cheaper for me to send something to the furthest reaches of the US than it is to send something to my neighbour! LoL Crazy!

Re: Crying softly into my lovely fabric

You guys are great. I ventured out and took care of it today. I'm fine with it now. I'm going to eat that $1.05 and let that be a gift (and a lesson learned for me.)

I think I'll remain on tophatter as a buyer. There really are some amazing deals (obviously) and I understand everyone wanting one.

And as a side note, I love you, Canadians!!!

Andi, you are the sweetest!! I am thrilled you still love your card holder! I loved that one too (I'm not ready to take it out of my avatar).

Re: Crying softly into my lovely fabric

I am sorry to hear about that, but auctions are known for bargains. People go to auctions to get things cheap. :( As was said......it was a learning experience. Glad you had a good night out tho. :)
