Critique and Activity Advice

Howdy Team,

I joined etsy about 2 months ago and have been slowly but surely adding inventory and building my shop. I am basically looking for the generic critique that this team is so good at giving. I know I need to make a banner, but just wanted to get some fresh eyes to tell me if what other improvements I can make. Like I said, any kind of generic critique or advice would be great.

Also, i have been adding a lot of people to my circle, favoriting shops/products, and have made a couple of treasury lists, because I was told that these things would help me to get noticed. I see a lot of talk about the treasury lists and I guess I was hoping somebody could help to clarify why they are so important. Are doing these 3 things mainly a way to make sure that I am popping up in other people's activity feeds?I mean, other than using it as a way to identify what products I like, is the main goal to just be as active as possible? I hope this makes sense, I'm obviously kind of clueless at this point.

Thanks,
Chris (and Drifter)

hi Chris,

I really like you designs. I think you just need to keep looking at your titles, seo and tags.

In this one.. I think it is the clearest of the photos but give more distinct angles. (funny i had a bracelet really similar to this one and it broke. I was so sad. Maybe soon I will be back to get a replacement). But back to my point. In your tags, make sure you don't repeat yourself and start trying out more then one word tags. I usually go to search and see what else pops up when I start typing my tags in.

I like the wood backgrounds as it gives an earthly grounded feeling but some of your items get lost in the background.

Good luck!

Re: Critique and Activity Advice

The lack of banner was first thing I noticed when i took a peek at the shop. The photos look good. I didn't go into titles and descriptions, because I am by no means a pro in that department,

I can help with the boosting views. I use Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Wanelo, and my blog. I don't tweet every new item I post, but my favorites ( I don't want to overwhelm my followers.) I also try to engage the Facebook Fans in things other than just new listings.

I also recommend joining teams on here that are either in your region, genre, etc. For example I belong to a Pacific NW team, and an Etsy Mommy team. Great way to network and cross promote each other.

Great items! Your off to a great start and now need to get working on SEO so you can be found!

1. Add a banner (simple, easy to read, matches your shop's theme)
2. Add a shop title that states exactly what you sell (use keywords others would type into search bar to find your items).
3. Include these same keywords in your shop announcement, titles, tags, and descriptions. Search engines will pick up on these keywords and rank you higher in search results.
