Critique Please!

Thank you for taking the time to read this! I started my shop, CraftyBeards, selling handmade crochet scarves, hats, accessories and home goods in January 2013. I have had 1 sale and am frustrated but not giving up hope! The more I come on here and read the Etsy success, the more I learn and continue tweaking my shop. I would love any constructive criticism on my shop. I am working on building my inventory but currently have 21 items. I'm more focused on spring/summer items for now instead of scarves and hats - I'm assuming sales of those items goes down in the hotter months.

Thank you in advance! Have a wonderful rest of your weekend.

Re: Critique Please!

Hi Nicole, I just took a look. Your descriptions and policies are professional, but your titles need some tweaking. SEO-wise, it is not a good idea to put 'free shipping' at the beginning. Some other titles also have 'clutch' or 'headband' as the 4rth word; I think they should be one of the first 3.
I like your wooden background, but the others are too busy. The brick wall is visually overwhelming. Photos are so important on etsy!
I could be wrong, but I think there is a lot of competition in your category. With 20+ listings, it is hard to get found. But you can look other shops up, and see what exactly they sell, how they present their stuff in photos, and what titles they have.
Okay, this is a start, and hopefully someone else will be able to give some more advice.
Btw, weekends are not necessarily the best time to ask questions here; weekdays more people are in the forums. ALso, if you don't get more general critiques, ask more specific questions, and you might get better results. Good luck to you!

Re: Critique Please!

Hello Nicole,
I have checked your shop and first thing that I have seen is your banner, to me it looks kind a empty put some more colors and more items on it to make it more attractive. You have nice items I would use them in your banner.
When I have a sale put my announcement at beginning of my description right under the photo.
If you put sale announcement above then you are taking away from SEO . First three word are the most important for you to be found in search. Example you have Light Blue 100% Cotton....
Would you ever put that in your search ? Think like a buyer and think what would you put in search if you looking for your items.
You have really nice shop it just need little work and you just opened your shop it takes long time to take off.
Hope I was able to help!!!
Good luck and wish you many happy sales :))

Re: Critique Please!

I've recently determined to make SEO a priority! Thank you ladies - your feedback has helped a lot. Maybe I should make all of my photos on the wood background so they all match - right now I have some items in my lightbox, some on the wood background.

Thank you again!
