Re: Creating inbound links

The more inbound links you have, the higher Google rates you. The question is HOW?

Re: Creating inbound links

I was just asking about this yesterday. Wouldn't linking back to my store on each etsy post increase my number of backlinks (inbound links)? Or does google rank them lower in importance because they were done by me?

Re: Creating inbound links

I would say the best way to get links is to buy and sell your items. When I buy a craft item from someone I try and chat a little bit with them. We end up knowing and helping each other out.

The other way is to sell. When people buy my stuff they love it, and get excited about it. I am sure to tell them all about my web-presence and send them a card. I have connected with other businesses this way. The other businesses have web-sights that could use my princess dresses. For example: I have sent personal e-mails to businesses that do princess parties for birthdays, and children's play places. I do also try and go to the places in real life but some are too far away. That has been the best for me.

Re: Creating inbound links

AFrenchTwist- I think they have to be from another site, and I think the site they are from needs to be a "high-quality" site (in the eyes of Google.)

Re: Creating inbound links

I asked this also yesterday. I think you will naturally get more links to your shop as you become more "known" on the web. That's where networking through FB and Twitter can come in handy. As you make personal connections with people on the web, people will pass along your info and links. Your shop will be re-tweeted, etc. One suggestion I received was to include your website when you comment on blogs. Not in a spammy way of course but several blogs do include a place for a web link when you comment. This creates an inbound link and also promotes your shop because if people read and like your comment, they might click on you comment and get linked to your shop.

I have just started working on my web networking in this way so I will let you know how it goes and if I see any improvement in my shop views (or hopefully get a sale!)

Re: Creating inbound links

Thanks Danielle, bookmarked it and love all the etsy success emails. I have seen an increase in traffic and sales since I started implementing many of the tips.

Any sellers not getting these emails, you really should.

Re: Creating inbound links

I can add that a steady campaign of writing individual requests to bloggers for product reviews has helped me. Sometimes you will be ignored, but often you won't, there are blogs large and small that need content to review on their sites.

I also keep a list of sites to contact whenever I have a sale or am doing a giveaway (craft gossip, etc.) some of these sites even just have online forms.

With time, all of those links add up.
