Coupon Codes

Do you post your coupon codes in your announcement? Or just on social media? I haven't ever posted it in my announcements because in my mind I didn't want people to use them if they would have bought at full price anyway. But on the same hand if I have a promo code, I typically buy more than I had planned. What has worked best for you?

I belive I can sell at regular price. I only offer cupon code for returned customers and those get it automatically after the purchase therefore no, I don't put cupon code anywhere for anyone to see.

I just started my first sale/discount period and I did put it in my shop announcement. As for a "thank-you-coupon", I only send them to customers who've bought from me.

I have to admit, I've gotten more orders and I believe it's because of the sale, which were also posted on EOS (Etsy On Sale.com) If you haven't used it before and like to give it a try, use my referral code to get additional free credits the first time you log in! Referal Code: GYGJ7U076S

I don't like the ratty look of etsy on sale.
If they change the look, I might be interested in dealing with them.
Right now, it looks like yet another thing I don't have time for that will cost me more money.
Just a practical comment, I remain openminded and willing to hear more.

I have only had one person use a coupon code.
I believe she would have bought the item for full price anyway.

Still, I continue to provide coupon codes with purchase and through my Facebook page.

I definitely put it in my shop announcement. I know that if I happen upon a shop and am looking for a gift I will consider that shop more if they have a coupon code in their shop announcement. It's not 100% sure that I'll choose it, but I'd more lean towards it. So I do the same hoping other customers are similar!

I had a coupon code in my announcement and profile section for the month of June and promoted it every so often - but nothing :(

I now have a new one in my announcement section with no expiry so it'll stay there until I decide to create another one or decide to inactivate it. It offers free domestic shipping on a $40 min purchase.

I do also have a "thankyou" code that gets sent after a purchase ..

I guess it all depends on what you offer in your shop and what ppl are looking for .. Summer also tends to be slower !

At this point, I only have a coupon code for returning customers, and this is sent to them once they purchase a design for me, so I don't put it anywhere else.

I'm considering a storewide sale since my shop is turning two soon, and if I do, I'll put the coupon code in the announcement.

Thank you all for sharing your input. I know summer is slower, but I'm just trying to draw a few more people in. Hoping after the holiday weekend it will pick up at least a little bit more.

Happy birthday in advance for your shop, Alicia! my shop's second birthday just passed recently. :]

I try to include the info for the sale whenever possible. I don't hold sales very often because i feel too-frequent ones will give the perception of a lower value of my work. Knitting is a very time-intensive craft, so it's hard enough as it is for some to understand why my work is priced as it is in the first place!


I hope your sales pick up more soon! Often there is a lull in sales during the summer because people are often out on holiday and *gasp!* sometimes even away from their phones! ;]
