Coupon Code Question

I'm considering making a coupon code for my shop for the first time. When sending the code to someone, say a fellow Etsian who has featured our pops in a Treasury, is there a limit to the number of times that person can use that code? Like, if I send it to someone intending that they use it once can they decide to use it on every purchase in my shop from now on?

Thanks in advance,
Pia

Re: Coupon Code Question

Hi! I think as long as the coupon code is "active", then they will be able to use it however many times they like. You can deactivate your coupon at any time, just go to "Your Account" --> "Coupon Code", then click on the coupon code you want to activate/deactivate.

Hope this helps.

Re: Coupon Code Question

I think they can keep using it, you can disable it at anytime and make new codes.

Re: Coupon Code Question

Okay, thanks! I think, then, that maybe I will make exclusive codes so that I can deactivate after first use.

Have any of you tried the Facebook/Twitter coupon code idea that Etsy put forth? The one that says give all your FB/Tw followers a code to use so you can track where your sales are coming from? If so, how has that worked for you, and have you found that they use it more than once?

Re: Coupon Code Question

Hi,
I keep seeing shops with items "on sale" where the orig. price is crossed out and the sale price is in red. Does anyone know how to set that up ? Thanks

Re: Coupon Code Question

I use the coupon code whenever I have a new customer and I set up the coupon so they can use it for every future purchase during 2011. It works as I get repeat customers. They just type in the coupon code I set up for them and Etsy takes care of the rest! Good Luck....

Re: Coupon Code Question

CartersCrafts -- If you hover your mouse over the Your Account link at the top of the page, the last link at the bottom should be Coupon Codes. Then click Create New Coupon in the upper right.

Re: Coupon Code Question

I would suggest always putting an expiration date with each coupon code, OR label it as one-time use, or something to that effect. I made and advertised my first code with no indicated end date, so now I feel like I can't take it down. I've given it out to so many different people (written on business cards, included in orders, given to friends, etc.) that I'm afraid someone would try to use it down the road thinking it will work and then find out it doesn't. I feel like that would be very misleading on my end.

Just a little tip for those who haven't faced that yet. :)

Re: Coupon Code Question

Hi everyone,

I made different coupon codes for FB, Twitter and my blog. Also for returning customers. I haven't had any responses from any of those, and I do not believe you are able to put a time stamp on it while creating it. So you have to send out a explanation with it as well, and keep track of all you codes. Have to adjust some myself to:)! Now I am offering free shipping on top of that, for the Holidays so I am going to adjust all coupon codes, deactivate them for now, only the thank you coupon for returning costumers I will keep active. I read somewhere in a Etsy Blog, that after doing research, customers are more likely to respond to the free shipping instead of the % off coupons, even if that means less discount. It's all costumer psychology!
