I'm not sure I follow: I use all the words I've put in my title into my tags using more than one word, i.e., bohemian earrings turquoise earrings brass earrings turquoise jewelry wirework jewelry
you have brass between bohemian and earrings. so at least the first 20 pages have "Bohemian earrings" in both tags ant tiles EXACTLY with no words in between they go first
each phrase has to be Exact, and the words Consecutive with no other words in between.
to make things easy, your tags are fine, so use them to make a title without changing the order of the words.
Go in the opposite direction. Take your very best tags and those in your title exactly. Don't try to make a snazzy sentence, just put the most descriptive tags in a logical order.
That way when the search is searching, it will find that phrase TWICE and go "Whoa! She really means it!" and put you at the top of the search.
My brain hurts! I see titles and tags done so many different ways but other shops don't seem to be hurt by it. One person says to write for people, then someone else says search engines don't care. But people still have to read and understand the title or they're turned off by it. Some people say shorten the titles and others say throw the kitchen sink at it...my shop's a mess of different methods as I try to see how changing affects my searchability and relevancy.
Edited to add: Thanks Sam. I've held off on using my jewelry on a model because I've read some people see the "yuck" factor in that. If I could find a cheap mannequin...
Alex-LOL @ Jimmy Hoffa I'm even more confused after reading back through this and looking at Cindylou's listings to see how she does it. I'm going to re-read through SEO. I've spent so much time on this and when I think I've understood it, I don't.
Side comment, I can't help with SEO, my views are probably much less... but, your shop looks great! I kept scrolling through to see what color grouping you would have next, like it!
@Sarah-thanks for the compliment! I did it thinking it would help with the cohesiveness of my shops since I love so many styles and colors of jewelry. I'm not sure it helps but it is more pleasing on the eye. Then I have to rearrange things when I renew and new listings sit on the front page for a while not matching the color group.
I can't give you any advice on seo or keywords because i haven't found the magical mix of words yet. I can however say that I love your new items... the turquoise and coral are especially lovely. Your Boho wire wrapped earrings are great! Is that a new technique for you? You should definitely do more! Wire wrapping is definitely hot right now and those earrings would definitely be unique to your shop! I wish you Good Luck & Good Sales! :)
I'm where you are Sandi, seems the more I read, the more confused I get, because like you said, it seems contradictory! You have a lovely shop, nice photos!
I personally wouldn't search for 'purple amethyst' if someone knows what amethyst is well enough to use it for a search term, they probably know it's purple so maybe use that space for a more varied tag!
