Copyright questions...

I am still fairly new on Etsy and would like to start getting more involved with my Etsy shop.
I would like to start selling handmade cards, but am not sure what I can use to make them, without copyright infringement. For example, I get most of my supplies from places like Joanns and Michaels. They have many types of embellishments, but I am not sure if I would be allowed to sell cards that I make with these, or if they are meant to be used just as a hobby. I won't be using pictures, so I dont have to worry about that...
If anyone has any knowledge or experience with this, it would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks in advance :)

Re: Copyright questions...

That shouldn't be a copyright issue at all. It's more the trademarked things like Disney, Star Wars, etc.

If we weren't allowed to sell items made with supplies from the craft store, none of us would be in business. :)

Re: Copyright questions...

I would say if you are worried, I would go to the brands you are buying, websites and check out their terms of use!

Better safe than sorry!

Exactly. And note that each manufacturer not only has their own rules, but they can change with time.

For example, it used to be that you could NOT use Amy Butler fabric to make things to sell, and it said so on the edge of the fabric. Now they've changed that rule, and their website says it is OKAY to use the fabric and sell product.

However, now Amy Butler says you can NOT use their sewing patterns to make things to sell.

I imagine same goes for paper products. Best to check first than have your shop closed.
