Consistant Sales?

So I've been selling here for a couple of years now but have only really in the last year started focusing on what my niche market and specialism would be.

I do get sales, and what I think is a good amount of views and favourites but I'm still not sure how to get consistant sales. Some months I can get only one or two sales while others I can get 6 or 7. Some months I don't even get any.

I know I should expect slow and faster periods but I haven't had any sort of consistancy at all.

Does anyone have any advice on what I should being doing differently or new things I can try, in order to increase or stabalise my sales?

Thanks so much!!

How is your SEO? Are you seeing consistent search views in your shop stats?

Hmm a bit inconsistant as well actually. Started off really high at the start of the year but slowly decreased. didn't really help that my shop was closed for the whole of June because I was out of the country but they have increased since then, again just not consistantly

Re: Consistant Sales?

Well, if you want sales, your SEO needs to be on point. The relevancy of a listing can change dramatically in a short period of time. Last week, I had a pair of earrings on the first page of the search "stud earrings" then, a few days later it dropped down past the 5th page. I'm not sure what page it ended up on because I didn't have time to keep looking. You have to keep an eye on your stats so you know when your tags quit being relevant. I suggest tweaking your listings so your tags reflect more specific phrases, then when a customer finds you, there's better chance that you'll have what they are looking for.

Re: Consistant Sales?

I just had a quick look at your shop and noticed you need to learn more about SEOs. Your titles and tags are kind of bad...but they can be easily changed and make you more relevant in searches.

For example some of your pillow titles are 'Game of Throne Miniature Pillow'.

For starters make sure you can even use or sell that because of copyright issues it may be illegal. Same with the Jane Austen ones.

If you find that it is legal to use and sell those then you should be marketing toward gamers and fans of those particular books, etc. (I honestly don't no if game of throne is a movie/book/game or all of the above : ) )

Many people aren't going to be searching for a game of throne pillow so you are going to have to bring in your target audience to you. You need them to find you. I would see about blogs and other sites that are fans of those ?books/games? and get the word out about your shop.

Also many of your tags are single words. Your tags should repeat your titles as best as possible, using multiple words as one tag.

Hope this helps a little.

Re: Consistant Sales?

@Mallory, thanks :) I think one of my issues is that while I know what SEO is I'm not sure how to use it, if you get what I mean. I know how to keep an eye on my stts but I'm never sure how to use that information to then make my items more optimised and relevant in searches. I guess I need to go do some more reading! :)

@Casi,
Thanks too,
In terms of copyright. The copyrights of both Jane Austen and Edgar Allan Poe have long since lapsed making it perfectly legal for me to use them :)
In terms of the Game of Thrones, I'll have to do some additional research, so I've deactivated those listings until i know for sure. Game of Thrones is a tv show based on a book series by George R R Martin. You mention I should be gearing those listing towards fans of the book. In my tags and descriptions I do mention both the show, characters within the show, the book title and the author, so apart from changing the title to be more specific on each item (like including the house etc in each) I'm not sure how else to target fans of the show with my tags for those items.

But I understand what you mean about my single word tags and will go back and look over my other products too to see where I can improve :)

Thanks again
