Considering search ads....results??

I am thinking about promoting with search ads, but would really like to know if they bring results of sales. Anyone have experience? How did it work out? Worth it?

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I haven't tried it myself, but from what I've heard from other sellers is that they didn't think it was worth it. They didn't get many views or sales.

I'm sure that there are some people who love it and it really works for them, but that's just what I've heard.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I did search adds for one week and didn't see any sales from it. From what I've heard, I think many people have had the same results. Though there are those who have had success, so it's tough to predict.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I ran them for a week also and didn't see any real increase in views, much less sales. You could always give them a try and see if they work for you, but the majority of reviews I've heard have been that they really don't help.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

Was not worth it! I didn't make a sale off of it and I think I had 5 favorites. I have heard it fondly referred to as Etsy Newbie Tax.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I've paid for search ads 6 times, views definitely increased and I sold a few items but I ended up with a loss given the cost versus revenue.

Hope this helps.

It isn't worth it all....I've gotten more from buying an add on a blog.

:( I was hoping to hear that they are wonderful, you sell lots and lots....coming up on my year anniversary, with only 11 sales. Wanting to be a big seller, busy, making lots to offset everything I've spent....oh, well, working on a new hat pattern now. Maybe that will be the magic product!

Re: Considering search ads....results??

If you work hard on your SEO and you get your titles & tags right, you should be at the front of most searches anyway. No reason to bother with paying to be on the FP of a search if you can just get there with some hard work. I tried them when they first started and they had virtually no impact. Better to spend that money on listings - you'll get tons more views just by listing new.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I did search ads for a few weeks using terms out of the merchandising reports. While I have no idea if it led to sales, I do know the item I advertised was in at least 1 treasury a day, though it never did make the front page. After stopping the ads a week or so later it hasn't been in a treasury since.

Which reminds me I finally got around to making more of my space light switch covers, so I think I will start another ad campagin for galaxy since that is supposed to be trending lately.

Don't waste your money. I've tried it several times and each times views were low sales were none. Money spent on impressions is like throwing it out the window. Only if someone clicks on your items should you have to pay. Until Etsy realizes that and everyone stops using the ads, they are never going to be worth using.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I've tried them on and off for a long time. According to my stats, I've gotten 3 orders, 21 favorites, 228 views, and a whopping 51,998 impressions. All for the cost of $57.88. Not sure if it's worth it. I'm doing a trial period of them again for a week to see what happens.

But in general, I think they're a waste of money. Unless your items are extremely specific to what someone is searching for, I probably wouldn't suggest them. But you can always do a trial period. Just set the limit to $5 and see what happens.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

i have done search ads only once...etsy said $5.00 but when i set it up it was $7.00..so i did it for 1 week and sold 2 items which equaled the $7.00. (i also made sales that were not from the search ads) so i broke even. i dont think it gave me any more views or sales....but i may try it again closer to the holidays maybe..

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I tried search ads last week. I've read about how it doesn't do much for sellers and was a waste of money so I kept it cheap. $5 for the week because I hadn't had a sale in a while, which is unusual. My views definitely went up at least a little bit, and I've had sales two days in a row. Maybe it was just good timing, but I wouldn't consider search ads a complete waste. (:

I only get few hits per day from search ads and no sale, may be I should stop using it.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I tried it at least twice when it was new and then a couple more times more recently. Though I did get lots of individual item hearts, over the month or so I had my ads running in total, I had just a handful of actually visiting my shop. I didn't get any sales from it.

I don't plan to try it again in the foreseeable future.

They didn't work for me, only a few extra views and hearts, no sales.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

Since you are advertising to people on Etsy, I think search ads are more tailored to shops which sell supplies rather than handmade.

Re: Considering search ads....results??

I tried it once with my other shop for one week but didn't have any sales. It seems to work for some people, so I would give it a try. I spent $7 and felt it was worth the experience. It didn't break my budget and perhaps the people who favorited my items will buy when they are ready.

Cute hats! Good luck if you try it.
