Should I be adding people to mine for marketing? I think I am in 84 presently. I was in 85 until I favorites like 100 items the other day, and dropped down to 82. I just dont see the point for Me as a seller, but maybe I am missing something. Thanks! Rachel
I added people I liked to my circle. People with similar art. I am in 975 circles. It helps when I create a treasury. Circles are really useful for spreading the word. When I create a treasury I ask all featured members to favorite it so that it gets posted to their circle. It makes it so that most all of my treasuries get 150 to 300 views. Circles do help. Adding people to your circle encourages them to add you to their circle. It does not always work ot that way but it has done wonders for me.
Almost everything I have purchased on Etsy is something that has showed up in my activity of people in my circles favoriting things, so there's some sellers out there somewhere benefiting from circles, from me at least.
I like to follow folks who like the same items as I do. I look through their favourites before adding them to my circle. I have also added treasury makers to my circle when I admire the items they've chosen.
I've bought supplies I've seen people favorite. One thing I bought was zippers. Someone had favorited a very large assortment of different colored zippers that were a great price. I may not have found them if they hadn't shown up in my circle.
I love seeing what people favorite, it gives me a glimpse of who they are and I sometimes feel like I have something in common with them when I like a lot of the same things they do and I'm more likely to check their shop to see if they make or sell things that I'd probably like too. I think seeing people's favorites kind of humanizes them. They become not just a seller on etsy, but a brand and identity. I don't know, just my opinion at least.
This discussion is very helpful because I have been wondering the same thing about circles and didn't really grasp the complete concept of them but as time passes and thread like this are posted, it helps be understand the importance of circles and such!
