Circles?

I'm new to Etsy and am confused about circles. I've read Etsy's admin description, but I'm still not sure how to use them. Who do I add and what's the purpose? Self-promotion, help with shopping, staying in touch with other sellers?

Thanks in advance!

Carolyn

Re: Circles?

They just irritated me so I don't use them! I am happy as punch when someone Circles me but I just couldn't handle all that stuff in my activity! I am distracted enough without seeing other peoples faavorites all the time!

Re: Circles?

I believe the purpose is all of the above. I always add someone to my circle if they buy from me, if I buy from them and if I like their shop and know I will want to go back to it. It helps me remember.
Good Luck!

Re: Circles?

The purpose is all of the above. Imagine a person has 500 peeps in their circle and they heart YOUR item, theres potential there for those 500 peeps to then see your shop. Circles could = sales )

Re: Circles?

Thanks for the info! Do you let sellers know you added them to your circle or just do it? Do they see you've added them?

Re: Circles?

I agree, circles have really helped me! I don't recommend convo with folks about being in their circle or for adding you or your item to your favorites, I believe that is seen as spam.

Re: Circles?

I love when people add me to their circles, but I don't have anyone in mine - same reason as someone else mentioned - it's just too much activity for me to go through.

Re: Circles?

So when you add someone to your circle, you're just able to see their activity on Etsy?

Re: Circles?

Do you think circles = sales if they're in your circle or only if you're in their circle? Also, is there any etiquette (i'm new to Etsy)...do sellers get offended if they put you in their circle, but you don't put them in theirs?

Re: Circles?

@CMB - To answer your question about if you should let someone know you added them to your circle, the person actually can set their account to let them know when someone has added them, so not really necessary to let them know.

I would also be interested about the etiquette too about circles, I haven't been using this too much and i would be interested to know if people get offended if you dont add them and they have added you...
