Checking-stats-itis, I've got it bad!

I've been here for a year, for the first week or two, I checked stats frequently, then gave up, stopped looking, finally got my first order in month five, didn't even notice for 2 weeks(to a wonderfully understanding lady)...now I check stats more and more frequently, to see if I got more views, to see if I got a sale.... It's like a disease, I'm making myself crazy!! Am I normal??

I'm checking stats constantly! Feels like every 5 minutes. I know I should stop but just can't help myself.

You need to set up your account so etsy sends you an email when you receive an order. I also get a notice on my iPhone that sounds like a cash register going "cha-ching" Then, if they pay through paypal I also get a notice from them on my phone and via email.

Is that cash register sound available for android too or just iphone? I have it too! I need to stop. Even though I will get an email if anything should sell, I constantly check my stats, it's like an addiction.

I had a few days at the beginning of the school year when I was so tired and so busy with other things in my life, I completely forgot about Etsy stats until late at night. It was a tremendously good feeling, and I need to get back to that again. I always feel like I'm pressing a gas pedal, trying to get the stats to rev up. Weird.

I've found that my stats mean more to me when I DON'T check them everyday. Distance enables me to notice short term and long term patterns that I was blind to when I checked them every 2-3 hours. I still check every morning and every evening to see if a sale came in, but I don't look at view/heart counts more than 2-3x a week. At the end of every month, I truly study my stats for patterns.

The only cure is quitting cold turkey, then easing your way back up to a "safe" level of stats-itis. ;)

I do find it helpful when I look at long term, I see what people are searching for the most, it has actually changed what I make, at least different proportions, anyway. Some of the most searched for things aren't bought, but looked at so much, that it brings people to my shop, so I will continue to have them, maybe make more(grocery bags) and offer singly as well.

I check my stats about 5 or 7 times a day and always in the morning and before bed. I will check the stats for key words and what is favored. This all helps me when it comes to upgrading my pictures or key words and helps me deside what idea or item I'll work on next, whether it's similar, different quantities or a brand new idea I'm wanting to present. I feel it is VERY addictive and yes your normal...lol

I just added a few new listings and the "refresh" button is starting to get annoyed at me lol! Looks like there's a few of us out there :)

I do look all the time! Especially when i make changes to things. Just to see if I am more "relevant".

My stat checking was bad enough before I got the Etsy App. Now, I check for transactions on my lunch hour. I have statitis bad... It is fun to see what items are coming up the most in searches though. Usually not the item I think it would be. Still, fun to see what items people are looking at.

I am also one of those fanatics that checks my stats constantly. I also check my convos hoping to get a question about an order.
