Changing a shop name

Hi team!

I have been toying with the idea of closing my shop and opening a new one with a new name. I originally joined Etsy years ago as a buyer, so my username was just my 1st initial and last name. Now that I'm also a seller, my shop name makes no sense!

Would you recomend opening a new shop with a new name and just re-directing traffic from the old one? Do you think that will negatively affect my sales and traffic since I will lose all my hearts and circles?

I guess what I'm wondering is... is it worth it?

Personaly, I would stick where you are. A shop name doesn't have to make sence. People who have hearted you may want to come back later. I also wouldn't want to loose any feedback you have. Feedback helps buyers feel confident.

I’ve only recently opened a shop on here so what I’m about to say isn’t based on selling experience.

However... from a buyer’s perspective, I can see that you’ve had sales & you’ve got 100% +ve feedback!!

So if I were you I’d be tempted to stick with what you’ve got.

I personally don't think the name matters too much, for me, your avatar catches my eye more than your name. I do agree with pp to keep your feedback and sales records. Besides, I think your name is cool and great stuff in your shop

It seems like most people think it's ok to leave the shop name as-is, so I think i'm going to do that for now and hope that Etsy starts letting sellers change their shop names soon!

(do you hear that Etsy? hint hint!)

On that note, does anyone know WHY Etsy doesn't allow name changes? Just wondering...?

I'm in the exact same boat. I opened an etsy shop months before I had any listings in it so I just used my generic user name.

I found it doesn't really make a difference, SEO, and marketing your shop helps much more then the name. Plus, may good names are taken.
