Cancelled Order

What do you do in the event you get a large order, then you order the supplies and they decided that they changed their mind and want to cancel. Now you are stuck with the supplies and are without the money you purchased the supplies with. How do/would you deal with this?

Re: Cancelled Order

Is it possible to return the supplies? If not, make lemonade out of lemons -add new stuff to your shop! Also, when I do that sort of custom order, they don't get their money back on the supplies, if I've had to order special for them, and I would put that in my shop policies, if I were you.

Re: Cancelled Order

I agree with Erin. I think you're out of luck for this round, but in the future you could definitely list that a specific portion-- say, 50%, for example-- of large custom orders are considered nonrefundable deposits. I'd add it both to my shop policies and to the custom listing itself just to be as transparent and clear as possible in the future.

Re: Cancelled Order

I'm never out the cost of the supplies since for every custom order that I do I make sure that I take a non-refundable deposit to cover the supplies before I even make the purchase.

Until the deposit is paid, I don't consider it to be an order. At that point its still an 'inquiry'.

Re: Cancelled Order

I make a sample only first for custom orders, and then make them pay up front when I order the supplies. Otherwise, who 's to know if they are serious or not? Then you are stuck with all the supplies. You could re-sell them right here on Etsy or Ebay if you can't use them. Sorry that happened to you! There's a lot of people out there who shop for "sport"!
