Buyer bought 3 of same item but reads as only 1 sale?

Hi!

So a buyer bought 3 of the same bracelets (for her bridesmaids) and so in my listing I put 4 available, she put 3 in her cart and bought them. But I looked at the sales section in my shop (on the left panel where everyone can see how many sales I've made) and it only reads as 1 sale? (Even though it is 3 sales) Is this what usually happens?

(I'm just starting out, so I would prefer it showed 10 sales as opposed to 8 sales... )

Yes, that's what happens if the buyer buys multiples of the same item! If that buyer had bought 3 different items, it would have shown as 3 sales in you sold section.

Why do they do that?! That's annoying! Oh well etsy is etsy... thanks! Good to know it's not just my shop playing up..

I did discover last week that if the person chooses different colors of the same item(using the option in the listing) it does show up as 3 separate sales.

The way Etsy counts 'sales' is by the number of listings purchased. So if the customer purchases 10 items from you from 10 different listings, then that would count as 10 sales.

But if they purchased 10 item from you from the same listing (different variations, multiples of the same item) then that would count as one sale.
