Today I'm venturing into the realm of business cards. I'm finally at a point where people are asking for them, especially now that I've started selling handmade items in addition to my usual vintage.

I purchased some great cardstock at Michael's and I have a fresh ink ribbon in my printer. But now I'm just staring at the computer blankly, not sure how to go about designing a business card. Guess I didn't put enough thought into this!

How did the rest of you format your cards? What info did you include? Obviously business name, owner name, URL and a little logo (mine will surely be a beagle of some sort), but did anyone include their phone number or anything else?

Re: Business Card Tips?

I was thinking of doing a different look on business cards, but have decided to stick with what I already use for my banner. I bought a package from someone here on Etsy last year and she has made me the most awesome things. I have a 2" tag that I tie onto my items, business cards, avatars, all the different signs for my shop, and most recently, she made me something that says Thank You For Your Purchase that is round and I cut out with a scalloped hole punch and stick onto the tissue paper.

Anyway, my suggestion for email addresses is to take advantage of the free services. I used my shop name @live.com. But I would definitely use an email dedicated to your business. You'll look more professional!

Re: Business Card Tips?

Who is this person who did such great work for you? I've been looking for someone who does fabric labels- would this be a good fit?

Her name is Kerry at DesignMuse: http://www.etsy.com/shop/designmuse?ref=seller_info

She does the graphics for me and then I print them out on whatever I want to use.

Re: Business Card Tips?

On my business card I include my email address, etsy shop address, Facebook page, and other website if you have one.

I also ordered mine from Vistaprint and I had another Etsian design the card for me to match the rest of my shop graphics.

Re: Business Card Tips?

I notice when I give people my VistaPrint card they sort of fold it up and throw it in their purse or pocket.
When I hand somebody my Mini-moo card they ask more questions...about my business and the card.
I have an image of my work on one side and then my info on the other.
People are funny w/ Moo cards....they even like to collect them. I find people who get a Moo card from me usually come to my FB page and "like" it...which usually brings them to me Etsy shop and they buy things.
Pretty Groovy for an itty bitty Mini Moo Card.
www.moo.com is AWESOME and totally worth it.
I even attach them to my items. They make Great tags~♥

Re: Business Card Tips?

I'd say if you're set on making your own cards, go ahead and do it. It'll be good to make a few for a "test run" and then you can see what you really like/what works and then spend the money on buying hundreds of them later on.

I'm still on my first set of business cards (1,000) that I got printed at a local print shop. The card itself is thick & strong (so much that when I hand them to people, they're pretty impressed with the touch of the card). They weren't too expensive, but I can't remember the exact price - $40-60 for 1,000?

I have my name, email, shop name, and Etsy site. When this batch is done, I'd like to include my FB link and add some product photos so that people know what the card is for. .it might also be time to revamp my logo (& banner) as well. =T
