Business Card Details Question

I am revamping my business cards and am trying to decide how to format my web addresses on the card.

Since you don't need the "www" before a web address to get to the right site, do you think it looks better/cleaner to drop it for your business cards, or do you think it should be included?

www.ActsofCraftiness.etsy.com

vs.

Actsofcraftiness.etsy.com

Thanks!

Re: Business Card Details Question

Hm good aesthetics question! my latest batch of cards has the www, but you're right - the address without the www is shorter and might be cleaner to use since business cards have such limited space.

Either way looks fine (gosh, aren't I helpful?) I'm wondering if people would get concerned if they saw a web addy without the www since www's are everywhere?

Nope, I'm sticking to my original answer - either way looks good, but without the www looks cleaner & would save you a tiny bit of card space.

Good question, good luck!

Re: Business Card Details Question

I agree, the second one looks much cleaner. I think that people will know it's a website anyway by the .com. Great question, makes me want to revamp mine now...lol.

Re: Business Card Details Question

Thanks for the help. I think I prefer the clean look (without the www), but I was worried that it's not what people are used to seeing. I don't want my business cards to look cluttered, so I'll probably drop the www.

Sandy - It's fun to revamp businessy things. :) I still have a bunch of my current cards though. I don't know what I'll do with them after I get new ones.

Re: Business Card Details Question

throw them to the wind ;)

ok not really...but start dropping them around as your out in town. (not littering) but like leaving oops where someone might pick it up.
better then throwing them away....

Re: Business Card Details Question

I agree, I like the second option. Cleaner, sleeker.
You could use your older cards as hang tags for your pendants or sold finished pieces maybe. Punch a hole & attach with ribbon or slide a chain through.

Re: Business Card Details Question

Hi Melanie! :)

I already include my business cards with my sold orders like you suggest (inside my kits or attached to the ribbon I wrap around my package), and I'll do the same with my new ones. I won't get rid of the old ones in case I need some backup cards. The info is still the same.

Re: Business Card Details Question

I have mine written as:

http://bunniesnbuggies.etsy.com

on my business cards. Hate to say it, but if you give a card without that "www" or "http" to someone that is NOT tech savvy, they don't know what it is a lot of the time. My old cards were printed like your 2nd example, and at craft fairs I was CONSTANTLY getting asked "Is that supposed to be an internet thing?" from people. I know it seems obvious to us, but make sure it's just as clear to a potential buyer :)

Re: Business Card Details Question

We include two business cards with each sold order. We have made gifts for family friends and provided them a few business cards to hand out when individuals comment on the gift.

We have the www added to our web site, it helps to eliminate any confusion. We have added a little "Thank you" to the back of our cards. We have also provided a quick subtitle to show what we offer.

Re: Business Card Details Question

Crap. Now I'm undecided again.

I really like the cleaner look of the site without the "www," but I definitely want the information to be clear. As a teacher, this was something I always had to be mindful of when writing an assignment of giving directions. When you know what you are trying to say, it's hard to think about other ways the information could be interpreted by others.

Anyone else have an opinion? How likely do you think it is that someone would be confused by a web address with no "www" before it?

Re: Business Card Details Question

I'd go ahead and stick the www on there, just to avoid any possible confusion. It's tempting to assume everyone knows what the web address is and how it works but it's always possible you'll hand a card out to someone will less experience who will either have to have it explained to them or who will end up not visiting because they're not entirely sure what the link is.

Re: Business Card Details Question

Yeah, I guess it is silly to assume that everyone seeing our business cards will be computer savvy. Did not think about that. Why I love this team so much!

Oh btw Jen, half done with the tetris heart & I Am Im Love! Adore the fact that you included basic instructions as well. Very helpful, especially for a first timer like myself. Thanks!!

Re: Business Card Details Question

I think I'll go ahead and keep the "www" just to be more clear. It doesn't take up too much space on the card.

@ Melanie - I am a self-taught cross stitcher, so I know how helpful it can be to have instructions! I'm glad the pattern is coming together nicely. I love to see finished pieces/appreciation photos, so feel free to share your awesome hard work when you're done. :)
