I just got my first email about my tile coasters sticking together. They arrived to FL stuck together. BOO!

The buyer and I both agree it's a heat issues. She's actually the one that brought it up. It's super hot in FL right now and I'm in AZ and it's hot here too!

I've been shipping with a piece of wax paper between each coaster before this happened but it looks like that's not going to work in the future, especially this summer!

Any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening again?

I'd say double check your resin!

Other than that, try the thick kraft paper you can get in rolls from USPS. It's only a few bucks per roll, and would last a long time!

I don't know a lot about resin but have heard that if it is not mixed exactly correctly it does not harden and is always a little sticky?

Yep, it will never ever harden if it is not mixed properly. Learned that one a couple of years ago :( I have thrown out batches of resin more than once because I was totally paranoid that I got the ratio off a minuscule amount. A minuscule is all it takes to throw off the batch, and one won't know it until after it is poured and let to cure. I lost about 6 pair of earrings with that batch......right to the trash after it was clear they weren't, in fact, curing.

Such a bummer!

I would suggest old school brown shipping paper that's like a thin paper bag or buying some cheap scrapbooking pages and cutting them to fit. Sending them back to back can help cut down on your added materials cost.

You might try getting some small amounts of the options listed and trying them outside to see what works and is most cost-effective. It doesn't sound like the design was damaged, so that's good, but I doubt you want to keep risking it with a record heat summer expected.

As far as the resin goes, I don't know about that, but living in FL and now Texas, when it gets hot, even if you're using made in china major manufacturer coasters, the glasses stick to them.

Two things I could suggest:
Try letting the coasters cure for at least 3 days before shipping
Have you tried putting in plastic spacers sort of like when you order pizza, they put in that plastic table thing so the cheese doesn't stick to the lid? Would probably need a different shapes but that might do it. Maybe plastic lids cut to size.

Maybe if you didn't stack them when you ship. Then, at least you wouldn't have that constant weight on them. You could cut out a square piece of cardboard, the size it would be when you have the four put together, then place them on the cardboard, and wrap tissue paper around it. I think that with out the constant weight of the coasters on top, they would have less chance of sticking...good luck with whatever you decide to go with :)

How is this resin holding up to moisture? Is it getting white when cold and wet? I'd be a bit worried about the resin you are using with this product. It seems if you used a resin with a more solid cure to it, you wouldn't be having this problem.

I agree with some of the others: be sure it's fully cured, be sure your proportions are totally correct - if both of those are done, research resin products and make a switch. You shouldn't have to worry about this happening.

Tyvek!

It's the super sting stuff that some envelopes are made of. Works like a charm on my encaustic/ resin paintings (alter ego nancytobin).
