Blogspot or Wordpress?

I decided I should probably try blogging. What website would you recommend to make a blog?

I just started my blog today and I used blogspot. It was easier than I though!

I have been using blogspot for a while now. It has been working great up until about a month ago where blogspot users have been experiencing problems. I'm not sure if the problems are over or what. I do like blogspot because it is very customizeable. You can pick a template but you can still edit that template to how you want it.

I picked a template but then used HTML code to tweak it a bit:

I like how user friendly blogspot is. I'm not that tech-savvy, but I find blogspot easy to use and customize.

I like blogger for it's ease of use, wordpress for functionality, and tumblr for just plain coolness...

I just started blogging and found blogger much easier to use, since I have little tech know-how. You can try both and mess around, see what you prefer.
@JulieAnnA, love how you customized yours...where do you learn the HTML code?

I use blogspot for my etsy items, as it was first on the scene.

And I install wordpress on domains when I develop websites for friends and family..

Blogspot is very easy for pure beginners and wordpress not too bad as well, but for the basics only, go for blogspot. For the more advanced user, use wordpress, in order to add plugins/gadgets..

I am on Wordpress, but everyone seems to be moving to tumblr. I am not ready to move cause I am just starting to get some views on my blog.

I am a definate Wordpress user. I found it super easy to set up, it also has its own very nice templates so you can literally just drop your stuff in there and youre ready to go, wth some pretty classy designs. It also has easy to use 'widgets' so you can add stuff like your mini etsy shop to showcase your for sale items (check out how it looks on my site if youre not familiar with that : www.StrungArt.com) and you can also set up the 'follow me' options really easily too with the widgets, and link to your Facebook.

I also use the iphone app with it so I can blog on the go/take and upload photos etc really easily. And there is lots of help on the net if you get stuck :)

I have only just started out but I am having some trouble getting my template to do what I want but I am hoping next week to work work work at it and make it look just right! Its hard being a designer and having something not look just right to stand behind it but its only silly things like the banner and layout. Plus my older sister who is a 5th grade teacher is most unimpressed with my run on sentences rants and raves but it me its the way I talk and think I tried to edit it and ended up writing even more eek! http://mariposavintage.blogspot.com/

I think wordpress has a lot of better features...but blogspot is much more user-friendly

Tumblr is a great place if you don't mind seeing the same person "blogging" all day long. It's more like the twitter of blogs, to me.

but will soon be moving my photography blog over to wordpress

I agree on all points! I have a tumblr and a blogger and I like them both for different reasons :) I have a wordpress for one of my parttime jobs and what I don't like is that to reap it's full functionality, you need to pay. If you know, or can figure out, a little html language, then blogger can be fully customized for free and it's definitely easier to use and less complex.

Tumblr is just plain fun! I'm a rebloggaholic :D

I use blogspot. I like it just fine, as it's pretty user-friendly. I have noticed some of the blogs that I'm following are switching to wordpress, or other sites. So I guess I'm wondering people's opinion on this too. Although, I don't think I'll be switching anytime soon...
