Blogging!

I'm quite a wordy so & so, but believe it or not, I only just wrote my first ever real blog post! Have a read here: http://message-in-a-trinket.blogspot.co.uk/ and let me know what you think.

Do you have any tips for how to write blog posts? It's something I always reckoned I'd really enjoy but never had the time to do previously. I also have this sense that if you're professional, you keep work stuff quiet and separate from your personal life! Sorry, something I haven't yet shirked off from my previous job.

Re: Blogging!

I think it's a great post! I started blogging when I got engaged (before I opened my shop) to have a way to talk about my wedding planning/life, so I had issues using it to talk about my shop at first. I've gotten more comfortable with the concept though and some of my blogging buddies have even done posts on their blogs about my shop. I find my DIY and wedding advice posts get the most views - basically the posts that tell people how to do stuff. I think recipes also work well if you're into cooking and find some interesting recipes to share.

Re: Blogging!

Thank you! Other than my husband, I've had no feedback about it. Yes, I think I will try and blog atleast once every couple of weeks from now on. My small business is sort of taking over my life right now (mostly because I love it!) so all the posts are likely to be about it.

As for cooking, I cannot cook! Maybe I can share some metal working tips though.

I should start taking a camera around with me more often as well shouldn't I?

Please share your blogs so I can look them up.

Re: Blogging!

Having regular features really helps people stay interested in your blog so I would say that was a must! I try to post a few times a week. It helps if you do your posts in advance and then set it to post automatically. Things like posting photographs of what you are creating as a sneek preview is always good.

My blog is http://thedorothydays.blogspot.co.uk/ if you want to take a peek

Re: Blogging!

Wow the fabric flower tutorial must've taken you a while to post with all the detailed photos. I've applied to the team you suggested. I should be asleep so goodnight for now. Will check in again in the morning. Should you not be asleep too Dorothy Days?!

Re: Blogging!

Chanchala, what an interesting blog entry. I've just recently started blogging again. I used to keep a fairly popular online journal back before blogging became a thing. This is different, though. Less personal. I'm not really thinking of it as promotion for my shop, although I do talk about my work sometimes. I'm not really sure what I want out of it, actually. Just a place to connect, I guess. Mine is here: http://jennifertatroe.blogspot.com

My blog is Ariella42.wordpress.com if you want to check it out. I wrote that fabric flower tutorial on TheDorothyDays' blog for the interactive blogging team on here. It is a great team and I highly recommend it.

Re: Blogging!

Thanks everyone, It's very encouraging to hear you enjoyed reading my first ever post! I've had a look at all of yours and it's given me an idea of the sorts of things to blog about. I don't really do cooking or gardening so I will limit mine mostly to craft/travel/DIY/home decor/shopping. Problem is it may look like I'm publicising my shop, but all things related to my shop are what I love doing!

I've applied to your team. Hope I get in.
