Blogging Question

The recent post on blogging got me thinking about doing a weekly or bi-weekly handmade gift guide on my blog. I would have pictures of the items I want to "feature" and then follow up with links to the items and the shops.

Here's my question: do I need to contact each shop before I use their pictures since I'm going to be clearly indicating that the photo and item are their work not mine? If someone wanted to feature one of my items in their gift guide, I wouldn't mind at all, as long as there was a link to my work.

What do you think? Are there rules on this type thing?

I think it's always nice to feature an item. Contacting the seller would be a nice courtesy. I know I would want to know so I could link back to my own blog, that my product was featured. It's a win win.

Contacting for permission or as an FYI?

I think FYI. the majority of people don't mind as long as it's linked and you're not saying hey I made this! or something of the sort. Personally I would be excited if someone featured me! Especially if they contacted me and told me (although I realize this can be difficult if you feature a lot of people like I do)
